Written by Prime Video’s The Boys, season 5, episode 6, titled “Though the Heavens Fall,” cannot possibly live up to last week’s visceral, gleefully grotesque ride that was elevated by standout performances and hilarious guest spots. Not to mention the ominous humor. Now, we finally meet Bombsight associate (Paul Reisser), who works at a Vaught theater.
In the opening scene, Mother confronts Chet Vanderbilt at a “VMC” that even runs Nicole Kidman, like ads, this time performed by the now-deceased Firecracker (Valorie Curry). He needs Chet to get a message to Bombsite. Mother tells him Homelander is searching for V-1, even though Chet is shocked, believing it was all destroyed decades prior.

Sister Sage (Susan Heyward) asks The Deep (Chase Crawford) to produce a PSA to help secure Saudi Arabia’s approval for the United States to access its oil. Of course, this will be an issue after America announces Homelander (Antony Starr) as the lord and savior. This, after Sage keeps having trouble replicating her own V-1, with Supes dying in the process.
Chet tells Butcher (Mortal Kombat II’s Karl Urban) to get a message to Bombsight—they need to find Golden Geisha. The team sets out to find her, and we then see Sage speaking with the Vice President, who suffers a panic attack. Sage douses her with chloroform, causing her to pass out, and begins talking to her “alter ego” on the back of her head.

Sage needs Ashley to read Soldier Boy’s (Jensen Ackles) mind so he doesn’t become immortal. She then confirms they have a lead involving someone named Bombsite. Next, we see Chet and Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara), who is a huge fan of the Geisha. They find her, but she threatens them, saying she will not contact Bombsight.
Hughie (Jack Quaid) and Starlight (Erin Moriarty) lie in the grass, staring at the clouds, seeing dicks everywhere. Then, Kimiko, Mother, and Butcher drug Goldie. In a funny scene, all three fight off Geisha’s friends, who look like The Village People. Homelander and Soldier Boy fight over his son killing Stormfront, caused by evidence planted by Sage.

Sage shows up at Butcher’s place, who arrives with Frenchie (Tomer Capone) and Mother’s Milk. She wants to lure Homelander to Butcher’s lab to kill him. Butcher knows Sage has something up her sleeve. Sage admits she wants the apocalypse to happen. They find out Bombsight stole the V-1 for Geishia. Geisha said no. Bombsight left her, his heart broken.
Kimiko and Frenchie have a heart-to-heart, with her telling her boyfriend that she does not want to end up as “vampires.” Frenchie apologizes for wanting her to be immortal. The scene then cuts to Starlight and Hughie walking into the Democratic Church of America. Oh Father (Daveed Diggs) then appears, as they begin to argue over all things, dogma.

Oh Father and Starlight fight. The aforementioned Supe is about to kill her when Hughie shows up with the Godolkin virus, threatening to use it on him. Hughie tells Oh Father that Annie has already taken the antidote. He leaves, saying goodbye to Annie. We then find out that Black Noir II destroyed the pipeline. The Deep then kills him.
Homelander shows up at the VMC. He intimidates Chet after killing his teenage boss. Sage then texts someone, “So, we got a deal?” We aren’t sure who she texted. Then, Bombsight shows up with the V-1, looking to save Goldie. We then see Homelander spare Chet’s life because he is acting like a father figure and is not scared of him.

Sage texts Soldier Boy that Bombsight arrived at the location. Why? Because no one hates Homelander more now, and because people are predictable. That is when Soldier Boy and Bombsight fight, Mortal Kombat-style, but with superpowers. Soldier Boy takes away Bombsight’s immortality and superpowers, so he does not have to live alone without her.
Ben does it for the V-1. Bombsight (Mason Dye) hands it over. Soldier Boy then strips his former friend and current nemesis of his abilities. This is the first time Flyboy has seen his own blood in, well, he can’t remember how long. Homelander then shows up, telling his father he does not want to fight him. Ben then hands over the V-1 to Homelander.

Sage, for the first time in her life, was wrong. The Boys, Season 5, Episode 6, “Though the Heavens Fall,” ends with Homelander piercing his skin and injecting himself with V-1. In pain, he groans while shooting his heat vision into the sky. Butcher then tells everyone to run.
