A new The Batman 2 plot rumor has revealed more about what fans can expect from the movie and its potentially darker storyline.
What are the latest rumors for The Batman 2?
According to a new post on the Leaks and Rumors subreddit citing two separate sources, The Batman 2’s story will be “way more intimate than people expect.” The user goes on to mention that the movie will focus on how Bruce Wayne, Harvey Dent, and the Arkham family are all connected “in ways Bruce hasn’t fully confronted yet.”
The post mentions that the movie picks up shortly after HBO’s The Penguin series and will see Dent being the face of reform at Arkham Asylum. The post continues to detail more aspects of the movie, including how Harvey Dent eventually becomes Two-Face, and notes the movie’s plot is “way darker and sadder” than people expect.

In a follow-up comment from the same source, it’s mentioned that the movie opens up with a flashback to Bruce Wayne and Harvey Dent as teenagers, establishing their friendship early on. The post also suggests that Scarlett Johansson will play the role of Vicki Vale, a journalist investigating things in the movie, and that the Arkham doctor is meant to be Jonathan Crane, “making Scarecrow the main villain” of the movie. Pattinson will reprise his role as Batman in the movie, while the rest of the cast remains mostly unknown. Scarlett Johansson was recently reported to be involved in the film as well as Harvey Dent’s wife. Other cast members from the original film, including Colin Farrell’s Oz Cobb/The Penguin, Andy Serkis as Alfred, and Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon, are likely to return for the sequel.
Co-written by Reeves and Mattson Tomlin, The Batman 2 is expected to see Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell reprise their respective roles as Jim Gordon, Alfred Pennyworth, and the Penguin. Zoe Kravitz, meanwhile, is not expected to return as Catwoman/Selina Kyle. Production on the film begins this coming spring.
