Armament Haki is a core element in the world of One Piece. It allows the users to use their own spiritual energy to create an invisible layer of armor for both defensive and offensive purposes. As characters progress into the New World, the application of Armament Haki evolves from basic hardening to advanced emission and internal destruction.

Strong characters like Luffy or Kaido can use these advanced techniques to demonstrate their durability and cause massive damage. Let’s rank various uses of Armament Haki, as seen in the anime and manga.

10. Luffy’s Red Roc Powered by Internal Destruction

Monkey D. Luffy used the Red Roc to inflict heavy damage on Kaido on the rooftop of Onigashima. This technique is a direct upgrade to his previous Red Hawk attack. During his time in Udon, Luffy trained under Hyogoro to learn advanced Armament Haki. By flowing his Haki directly into the target, Luffy can ignore the defenses and target the person.

When fighting Kaido, whose dragon scales are practically indestructible, normal heavy attacks become useless. Luffy activated Gear 3 to enlarge his fist, coated it in Armament Haki, and ignited it. This attack proved that Kaido’s biological armor could be breached.

9. Sai’s Kiryu Kirikugi Powered by Haki Hardening

Sai used the Kiryu Kirikugi during the Dressrosa arc to defeat Lao G. Sai is a martial artist who practices Hasshoken, which is a fighting style used by the Happo Navy. The Kiryu Kirikugi combines this martial art with Armament Haki.

The significance of this technique lies in what it destroyed. Don Chinjao’s head possessed a historical reputation for splitting an entire continent composed of highly durable ice, which is how he hid his treasure. That is what Sai managed to bend using his Armament Haki. It is unknown whether Don can still use his head.

8. Zoro’s Dragon Damnation Powered by Maximum Hardening

Roronoa Zoro used the 103 Mercies Dragon Damnation to deliver the final, finishing blow to King the Wildfire during the raid on Onigashima. King is a member of the Lunarian race, a species known for its extreme natural durability, which allows it to survive in any environment.

Zoro applied an extreme level of Haki imbue across all three of his swords. During the final clash, King generated a massive dragon constructed of magma-like fire. Zoro’s Dragon Damnation generated an energy slash powerful enough to completely bisect the giant fire structure.

7. Sabo’s Dragon’s Breath Powered by Internal Destruction

Sabo from One Piece | Credit: Toei Animation

Sabo used the Dragon’s Breath technique to destroy the fighting arena of the Corrida Colosseum in Dressrosa. Sabo entered the tournament finals to get the Mera Mera no Mi Devil Fruit. To end the battle, he destroyed the foundation of the arena itself.

The Dragon’s Breath technique relies on Internal Destruction. Instead of using normal force to break the stone, Sabo drove his Haki-coated fists directly into the floor of the ring. He pushed his Armament Haki deep into the foundation, allowing the energy to expand from the inside out.

6. Zoro’s Daisen Sekai Powered by Haki Imbuement

Roronoa Zoro used the Ichidai Sanzen Daisen Sekai to defeat Pica. During the conflict in Dressrosa, Pica used the Ishi Ishi no Mi Devil Fruit to assimilate with the island’s stone. He created a giant stone golem the size of a mountain and began moving toward the King’s plateau. To stop him, Zoro had to get rid of all of that stone to get to the main body.

Zoro coated all three of his blades entirely in a thick layer of Armament Haki, turning them black. Hardening is necessary, as standard steel would shatter under the stress of cutting through such a massive volume of rock. Zoro unleashed a rotating cut that cleanly bisected the mountain-sized golem across its waist.

5. Oden’s Togen Totsuka Powered by Ryuo

Kozuki Oden used the Togen Totsuka to give a massive scar to Kaido. This fight took place during a battle to liberate Wano Country from the Animal Kingdom Pirates. Kaido fought Oden in his full Azure Dragon form, so Oden needed a technique capable of bypassing his armor to secure a victory. For that, he used Togen Totsuka.

The Togen Totsuka is a two-sword style technique in which Oden puts the massive reserves of Ryuo (Armament Haki) into his two legendary swords, much like how Zoro does it. Oden leaped toward Kaido and delivered two precise cuts that left the mark still visible on Kaido’s body, proving how strong it was.

4. Luffy’s King Kong Gun Powered by Haki Hardening

Monkey D. Luffy used the Gomu Gomu no King Kong Gun to end his fight against Donquixote Doflamingo. Doflamingo had an Awakened Devil Fruit, which allowed him to turn the surrounding environment into sharp, durable strings. For his final defense against Luffy, Doflamingo created a massive web called God Thread.

In response to that, Luffy activated his Gear 4 Boundman form. To use the King Kong Gun, Luffy blew air into his arm muscles, expanding his fist to a massive size. He then coated the enlarged limb entirely in Armament Haki hardening. When Luffy struck Doflamingo, the force was enough to flip the bedrock of the island itself.

3. Koby’s Honesty Impact Powered by Advanced Emission

Koby used the Honesty Impact to save a Navy ship from destruction at Hachinosu. Avalo Pizarro, a commander of the Blackbeard Pirates, used the Shima Shima no Mi Devil Fruit to merge his body with the island and created a huge hand made of stone, attempting to crush the escaping ship.

What Koby did was a pure, simple application of advanced emission Armament Haki. He pulled his fist back and punched forward, projecting his Haki outward over a long distance. The invisible shockwave of Armament Haki struck the giant stone appendage without Koby making direct physical contact. The impact completely destroyed the mountain-sized hand. It sits in the top 3 for being simple, yet insanely powerful.

2. Garp’s Galaxy Impact Powered by Massive Emission

Monkey D. Garp used the Galaxy Impact during the Marine assault on Hachinosu. Garp arrived at the island to rescue Koby from the Blackbeard Pirates and to clear a path while minimizing enemy numbers immediately – Garp used a wide-area destructive technique. He ordered his battleship to fly over the island’s main plaza using a Coup de Burst.

While high in the air above the town square, Garp coated his fist in Haki and punched below him. He used massive emission Armament Haki, creating a large sphere of energy from his hand before striking the ground. The resulting shockwave acted like a huge explosion that leveled everything.

1. Luffy’s Bajrang Gun Powered by Internal Destruction

And now we come to the strongest and one of the most recent applications of Armament Haki. Monkey D. Luffy ended the Wano Country arc and defeated Emperor Kaido using the Gomu Gomu no Bajrang Gun. The final clash occurred high above the island of Onigashima.

Luffy used his Gear 5 transformation to inflate his arm to the size of an island, which is a big step up from the last time he did something similar against Doflamingo. The combination of island-sized physical mass and immense Haki projection allowed Luffy to overpower the dragon. The strike hit Kaido directly and drove him deep through the crust of Wano Country, creating a massive underground crater.

The techniques ranked above are the peak of Armament Haki in the One Piece world. Characters like Zoro and Oden rely on heavy Haki density to increase the power of their weapons against targets. At the same time, characters such as Garp, Koby, and Sabo use advanced emission and internal destruction to project force outward.

Luffy’s Bajrang Gun remains the strongest, combining island-sized mass with advanced Haki applications.

What is the difference between standard Armament Haki and Advanced Emission?

Standard Armament Haki hardens the user’s body or weapon, increasing physical defense and offensive density. On the other hand, Advanced Emission allows the user to project their Haki outward from their body.

How does Internal Destruction work?

Instead of projecting Haki to create a surface-level impact, the user forces their Haki to flow directly inside the target.

Does imbuing a weapon with Armament Haki increase the user’s base physical power?

No. Weapon imbue channels the user’s existing Haki into an object, so the raw strength doesn’t increase. It’s just a technique.

Are there any more applications that you can think of? Let us know in the comments.
