After losing the Oscar for Best Actor last night, Leonardo DiCaprio may reconsider Kevin Feige‘s offer to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
DiCaprio has a few “rules” in Hollywood, with the major ones being no sequels and no superhero movies. Of course, that has neither stopped Hollywood from offering him superhero roles nor him from considering them. Zack Snyder revealed in 2024 that he talked to DiCaprio about playing Lex Luthor in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, while David Goyer has claimed Warner Bros. wanted the actor to play the Riddler in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy.
DiCaprio also reportedly passed on the roles of Dick Grayson/Robin in Batman Forever (1995) and Peter Park/Spider-Man in Spider-Man (2002), allowing for his close friend Tobey Maguire to be cast as the latter.
Kevin Feige wants Leonardo DiCaprio to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe
Ahead of the Oscars ceremony last night, scooper MyTimeToShineHello posted on X, “Who should Leonardo DiCaprio play in the MCU as I hear [Marvel Studios president Kevin] Feige is finally trying to get him,” although the scooper warned that if he won the Oscar “he’ll never agree to Feige’s offer.”

DiCaprio ended up losing the Best Actor race to Michael B. Jordan, who coincidentally has appeared in three Marvel movies. He played the Human Torch in 2015’s Fantastic Four and Erik Killmonger in 2018’s Black Panther and 2022’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
It’s unclear which role Marvel has its eye on DiCaprio for, as not much of the studio’s post-Multiverse Saga plans have been revealed beyond an X-Men reboot. However, the odds of DiCaprio even entertaining the idea of joining the MCU seem extremely low. It’s also worth noting that scoopers are never entirely accurate, so this casting rumor should be taken with a grain of salt until confirmed or backed up by one of the major trades.
DiCaprio’s schedule is also a bit more booked than usual. The actor is currently filming Martin Scorsese’s What Happens at Night with Jennifer Lawrence and Mads Mikkelsen. Once that wraps, he is expected to begin production on Michael Mann’s planned Heat sequel.
