DCU star Jason Momoa teases a potential R-rated Lobo spin-off movie ahead of Supergirl. The Hollywood star will play the comic book character in the upcoming superhero film starring Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El.
What did Jason Momoa say about Lobo’s DCU future after Supergirl?
Lobo’s live-action debut happens with the Supergirl movie later this month. Jason Momoa believes that the upcoming film won’t be his last DCU project featuring Lobo. In fact, according to the former Aquaman of the DCEU, he may even have his own solo film in the works.
Speaking with Comicbook, Momoa revealed that he discussed Lobo’s future with James Gunn while promoting Supergirl. “I have asked. And they do have some plans.”
Momoa added, “If I’m allowed to release anything, I’d just say that, much like Aquaman — we came out with a little splash of him in Batman v Superman. Justice League was pretty big. Then the next thing. It’ll be a slow release, we’ll see where [Lobo] fits.”

The actor also noted that any potential Lobo movie in the DCU would be R-rated. “It’d be amazing to do our own solo. The audience really has to love him and want him to be there…It has to be [R-rated]. It has to be. But you’ve also got to build the fanbase for that. You can’t just drop that in there and expect everyone to come in.”
Lobo won’t account for much screen time in Supergirl. It was recently reported that Momoa’s role will be only 15% of the entire film, which means fans hoping to see more of him might be disappointed. However, Momoa’s latest update on Lobo’s DCU future will surely delight them.
Besides Momoa and Alcock, Supergirl also features Eve Ridley, Matthias Schoenaerts, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham, Ferdinand Kingsley, and Diarmaid Murtagh in key roles.
Supergirl will release in theaters on June 26, 2026.
