Spread the love

Akira Toriyama loved Dragon Ball. The fans of the series have been present long enough as they witness how time and again new Super Saiyan transformations that will keep them hooked to the show. In Dragon Ball Super, Toriyama showcased Ultra Instinct, which was believed to be the highest form of power that even Beerus, the God of Destruction had not been able to achieve.

However, Kakarot has not only attained the unattainable power but also mastered it during the Tournament of Power. Fans thought that this was the peak that Son-Goku could have gone to because what more could he achieve now? Turns out, he could have gone Super Saiyan Infinity, but the creator of Dragon Ball did not feature because it contradicted one very essential essence of the show.
Akira Toriyama Refrained Himself From Featuring Goku’s Ultimate Transformation, Super Saiyan Infinity
Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball series, spans four decades and counting, across manga, anime, and various adaptations, featuring a plethora of themes, with one being the most prominent of them all, the relentless pursuit of self-improvement. The mangaka wanted to teach his worldwide audience by featuring a lovable character, Son-Goku, a Saiyan, who has only one wish, that is to constantly train and become stronger.

This obsession often inspires him to spare the lives of the villains, as he did with Piccolo, Vegeta, and Frieza. While some can say it’s empathy it also ensures, that the Saiyan will retain a rival who can push him to train harder. Moreover, fans witnessed how he put the faith of Universe 7 on the line, as he persuaded Lord Zeno to organize the Tournament of Power, where the loser Universe would be eradicated.

The Arc was electrifying, as fans thought that Son-Goku died as he was caught in his own Spirit Bomb, as Jiren countered him. All hope seemed to be lost, until the entire ring started to tremble with an influx of power. As Lord Beerus said, “Here it comes,” followed by showcasing our beloved protagonist’s return, that too in the Ultra Instinct transformation. As the arc progressed, he mastered it and saved Universe 7 with the help of Android 17 and Frieza.
Kakarot in Mastered Ultra Instinct form
Kakarot is constantly learning new power-ups and as a result, fans have come up with the Super Saiyan Infinity. This very power-up is contrary to the show’s core theme because it features the protagonist in his most powerful form, learning this would ruin Kakarot’s personality. This transformation is featured on the Ultra Dragon Ball Wiki, a web page dedicated to fan-made Dragon Ball content.
SUGGESTED“I was mainly focused on the violence”: One of Vinland Saga’s Most Important Themes was a Complete Accident
With Akira Toriyama now gone, it remains a question if Goku would have any more notable transformations like the Super Saiyan Infinity, which would challenge the very essence of the show, or if the Z Fighter would push himself to grow even further.
Akira Toriyama Refrained From Taking Risk With Dragon Ball
While Akira Toriyama is renowned for the Dragon Ball franchise, he is also the notable author of Dr. Slump. The story revolves around Penguin Village, and it features the adventures of a little robot girl, Arale Norimaki, and her creator, Senbei Norimaki. The manga marked the beginning of Toriyama’s manga career and established him as one of the best mangakas in the world.
A still from Dragon Ball Super
One of his old interviews was shared inTelepal Tokyo Edition 1986, Volume 3, and was later posted by Rumic World. During the interview, the manga artist shared how decided to shift his focus from Dr. Slump to Dragon Ball, explaining all the changes. Toriyama-Sensei said,
“For one thing, I wanted to change tempos and structures so as to draw a clear line between the old and new series. For example, I drew Dr. Slump in an American-like style and am writing Dragon Ball in a Chinese-like style. It would be difficult to draw manga if you don’t change your stories.”
According to the manga artist, he wanted both stories to be crystal-clear to the fans and how Dragon Ball was more of a Chinese-style series, whereas Dr. Slump has adapted an American style.
