Tom Holland was surprised when an MCU actor spectacularly gatecrashed his shoot. He didn’t expect Captain America to visit him during filming of Spider-Man: Brand New Day after all.
Holland had a wide array of discussions on a recent episode of the Happy Sad Confused podcast. During one such moment, MCU’s Peter Parker recalled how Anthony Mackie surprised him on the sets of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. While shooting at Pinewood Studios, Mackie walked in with his Captain America suit, much to the delight of the Spider-Man crew.
Holland told Josh Horowitz, “We were shooting in Peter’s apartment, and I was doing this scene, and all of a sudden Captain America was like in my apartment.” The British actor further explained, “Avengers was across the way and Spider-Man Brand New Day was on the east side or west side of the property. And yeah, I was shooting the scene and then Mackie just walks in.”
What MCU movies have Tom Holland and Anthony Mackie been in together?
Holland and Mackie’s onscreen relationship goes back a long way. In his very first movie in the MCU (Captain America: Civil War), the 30-year-old actor came face-to-face with Mackie in 2016. However, Mackie was portraying Falcon at the time. Next up, the duo worked together in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.

Now, with yet another Avengers release lined up for this December, the rumors are louder than ever. Marvel still hasn’t confirmed Spider-Man’s appearance in Doomsday. Neither does the British actor feature in the trailers. However, according to a popular fan theory, Marvel might have just pulled off a Hulk-like trick from the Infinity War trailer, which might explain Holland’s absence from the Doomsday promotional campaign.
Interestingly, aside from their on-screen chemistry, both the American and the British actor are known for their public banter. One of their famous verbal duel took place during the 2018 Comic-Con. When Mackie joked about not having watched Spider-Man: Homecoming, Holland hit back by saying that Falcon didn’t even have a solo movie.
