River Monsters wasn’t your average fishing show; it was like Indiana Jones, but with murky waters and monstrous fish. Jeremy Wade turned tracking down nightmare creatures into an art form, battling beasts that seemed ripped from legends. But why did the show end? Wade basically beat nature.

Imagine being so good at what you do that you put an end to your own show. Jeremy Wade became a legend, proving that when you go that hard, there’s nothing left to conquer.
Why River Monsters ended: Jeremy Wade ran out of fish to catch (and that’s legendary)

Jeremy Wade’s River Monsters has been off the air since 2017. Wade ended the whole thing because he literally caught every giant, dangerous fish on his bucket list (per TVShowsAce).

Wade wasn’t always out there hunting fish, though. He started with zoology, taught biology, and then took his love of wildlife worldwide. On River Monsters, he took us on crazy adventures, pulling fish out of rivers that most of us only dream about. But once he had ticked off every beast on his list, it was game over.
In a press release, Jeremy said it best:
Some shows can run forever, but our subject matter is finite. Ten years ago, I had a list in my head, which seemed impossibly ambitious at the time. Everything has been ticked off.
And just like that, the show came to an end. But don’t worry, Wade’s still out there doing his thing. He’s been in new specials like Mighty Rivers and Mysteries of the Deep, still chasing down the wildest places on Earth.

Jeremy Wade’s love for conservation is just as strong as his passion for fishing. He’s all about saving those freshwater habitats and keeping the monster fish legends alive.

Jeremy Wade’s River Monsters wasn’t just about fishing – it was about hunting legends. For nearly 25 years, Wade searched for the elusive Goliath tigerfish, a giant piranha lurking in the Congo river, with razor-sharp teeth to match its legendary status (via Looper).
But it wasn’t until River Monsters season 2 that Wade finally reeled in the beast he’d been after for over two decades. The 78-pound catch was a long-awaited win, and Wade couldn’t hide his grin.
Before the cameras, Wade’s journey was anything but glamorous. He braved malaria, remote rivers, and brutal conditions just to track down the biggest, rarest fish on the planet.
