Written by Ryan Reynolds demonstrated his kindness again after he donated £10,000 ($13,300) to a 13-year-old Welsh girl suffering from cancer. Lexi Collins’ wish for Christmas is to visit New York City, and this dream was fulfilled by the Wrexham AFC co-owner.
Hailing from Deeside in North Wales, Collins was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer last June 2025, which required her to undergo two open-heart surgeries and intensive chemotherapy sessions.
Her GoFundMe page originally set a goal of £5,000 ($6,600). As of this writing, the campaign has raised £14,663 ($19,600), giving her a chance to live her dream trip. Her mother wrote:
I am absolutely blown away with the kindness and generosity of you all, because of you all my beautiful girl will get to see New York (keep everything crossed that shes well enough!) Lexi wants to thank everyone, she is making sure she smashes her chemotherapy, because in her words ‘Im not letting cancer stop me going to New York!’
As of November 20, Collins completed her radiotherapy treatment but still needed to get back into her chemotherapy sessions.
Ryan Reynolds Has Always Supported Cancer Research Programs

Cancer patients have always been close to Reynolds’ heart, so he always makes sure to extend any help he can to improve their quality of life. Apart from helping Collins achieve her dream, Reynolds showed support for the Terry Fox Marathon of Hope early this year.
On Instagram, he posted about the foundation’s 45th anniversary as well as their collaboration, launching a limited-edition collection in which all proceeds will go to cancer research programs in Canada.

In 2023, Reynolds supported the cancer firewalk fundraiser in memory of Aaron from Buckley, Flintshire, who passed away due to a rare form of brain cancer (via BBC).
The money that was raised went to the Brain Tumor Research charity, with the actor sending a personal message to those who attended the event.

While dealing with his Hollywood controversies alongside his wife, Blake Lively, Reynolds seemingly finds other things to focus on outside the spotlight. Apart from doing philanthropic services, Reynolds is also juggling work as co-owner of Wrexham AFC, a once-struggling Welsh football squad.
Collins’ fundraiser was organized by another team, Wrexham Police FC, a group of off-duty cops playing soccer. Still, Reynolds’ kindness was very much appreciated after they posted a screenshot of the actor’s donation on their social media platform.
