The Marvels Ended Up Falling Short
In the same way that Rachel Zegler’s The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes had a lot against it, being based on an unsuccessful book, The Marvels had a lot going for it. Not only did it come from one of the biggest franchises of all time, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but also the film had an interesting plot and a cast full of widely well-known, well-respected actors.

Despite this, the movie only managed to make almost $200 million. while this is no small number, it is important to note that this is a drastic downfall from the profit made by this franchise only a few years ago. This raises the question of perhaps, superhero-fatigue may be a real thing. What makes this all the worse is the fact that this movie had a budget of $274 million, according to The Numbers, not even managing to break even, let alone profit.
