Tinubu’s Minister, Ohanenye, Challenges Reps To Prove Corruption Claims In Court
The Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, has called on the House of Representatives Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development to present any evidence of corruption against her in a court of law.
This challenge was issued in a statement by her aide, Musa Abdulrahaman, on Thursday in Abuja. The minister emphasized that all financial transactions within her Ministry adhere to established civil service regulations.
The call for evidence follows allegations raised by the committee, chaired by Kafilat Ogbara, concerning the alleged diversion of ₦1.5 billion meant for contractor payments. Contractors had petitioned the committee, claiming non-payment for services rendered to the Ministry.
Naija News reports that during a contentious hearing on Tuesday, the minister and committee members had a heated exchange regarding the allegations.
According to Abdulrahaman’s statement, Kennedy-Ohanenye provided comprehensive documentation to counter the claims of financial mismanagement.
