The Boys spin-off show Gen V has received a terrible update that’ll be disappointing to fans of the Prime Video series.

Developed by Craig Rosenberg, Evan Goldberg, and Eric Kripke, Gen V premiered on Prime Video in September 2023. Serving as a spin-off to The Boys, the series is loosely based on the “We Gotta Go Now” comic book story arc by Garth Ennis, Darick Robertson, and John Higgins. It stars Jaz Sinclair as Marie Moreau, Liz Broadway as Emma Meyer, Maddie Phillips as Cate Dunlap, and more.

What is the update on Prime Video’s Gen V?

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Gen V has been officially canceled. This means that the show’s second season, which premiered in 2025, will be its last.

“While we wish we could keep the party going another season at Godolkin, we’re committed to continuing the Gen V characters’ stories in The Boys season five and other VCU projects on the horizon. You’ll see them again,” Kripke and Goldberg said in a statement.

Prime Video is currently in the midst of releasing its fifth and final season of The Boys, as the first four episodes are currently available to watch on the streaming service. The Boys Season 5 will have eight episodes in total.

There are more The Boys projects on the horizon. A prequel series, titled Vought Rising, is expected to premiere in 2027. That show will see Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash reprise their respective roles as Soldier Boy and Stormfront, while the cast also includes Mason Dye as Bombsight, Elizabeth Posey as Private Angel, and Will Hochman as Torpedo, among others.

Additionally, another spin-off show, titled The Boys: Mexico, was announced in November 2023, though not much is known about that project as of yet, apart from that it comes from writer Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer and executive producers Diego Luna and Gael García Bernal.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, “some Gen V characters are set to make appearances in the remaining episodes of The Boys.”
