Halo Studios made it official that they’re working on a full remake of Halo: Combat Evolved and calling it Halo: Campaign Evolved (neat word-play). However, in this era, the story has changed as Xbox is not holding the game as an exclusive. Rather, they’re making the classic title playable across multiple platforms, including PlayStation.
Speaking of PlayStation, Quest Daily spoke to Halo Studio’s executive producer Damon Conn and got some spicy details. Since they’re dropping the title on Sony’s console, it would arrive with special implementation for the DualSense controller. Here’s what Conn stated:
We’ve totally ground up, looked at, re-evaluated, and retouched every asset, re-recorded new voice work from the principal cast, rebuilt cinematics, new motion capture — it’s really kind of a ground up thing versus what we had done previously with Halo Anniversary.
As crazy as it sounds, yes, PlayStation is getting more special treatment compared to Xbox. Not only are PS5 users getting Halo: Campaign Evolved in 2026, but they are also receiving extras like this. Don’t know how Xbox fans feel about this, but they’re kind of making Sony look like a viable option.

Halo: Campaign Evolved is launching in 2026 as a part of celebrating 25 years of the franchise. To enjoy such an auspicious moment, Halo Studios is making sure everyone gets to try the hit franchise on the platform of their choice.
However, it’s very hard to miss the fact that Sony users are technically squeezing more out of the remake release. On the other hand, Xbox fans who have loved the franchise from the early days are kind of getting left out.
It’s a bit confusing at this point, but even Satya Nadella spoke of unifying gaming platforms and making sure the Xbox brand is available to all. In that case, why should PlayStation get left out? Still, if you want a more immersive experience out of Halo: Campaign Evolved, then it’s safe to say PlayStation 5 is a better way.

Yes, PlayStation does seem a better choice, but again, no at the same time. While team blue is getting some extra controller features, it doesn’t make it superior. But again, since there’s no exclusivity involved on Xbox’s end, PlayStation certainly stands out.
On the brighter side, Xbox consoles still have access to Game Pass, which makes many titles available for loyal fans. If PlayStation users have to enjoy the remade version, they’ll have to buy the game at full price, while subscribers technically get it for free. Long story short, PlayStation isn’t the viable option as of yet.
