After the shocking betrayal and twists at the end of season 1, season 2 premieres today, on December 10, 2025, on Disney+ with the first two episodes. Episode 1 builds the intensity as Camp Half-Blood faces its biggest threat yet, and Grover’s fate turns dire.
Why Luke Poisoned Thalia’s Tree in Percy Jackson and The Olympians, Season 2, Episode 1?
Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 Episode 1 begins with Grover in the woods, praying for guidance on his search for Pan. He discovers a skeleton holding a wooden flute that draws out a group of demigods led by Allison. The former campers are now loyal to Luke’s rebellion. They demand information about the thing he found, the Golden Fleece. When Grover learns that they’re with Luke, they try to kill him, but Grover gets rid of them by playing the flute, which strangles them. But before Grover can escape, a massive sea creature drags him underwater.
Percy wakes from a nightmare about this attack. It’s been almost a year since he last saw his friends, and his life has changed. Tyson, whom Percy’s mother, Sally, took in during her charity work, now lives with them. Sally’s ability to see through The Mist ensures Tyson appears normal to the humans, while having a single cyclopean eye. Percy sees him as odd but harmless, unaware that Tyson’s strength and innocence mask something deeper.
In the New York streets, as the brothers head to the school, Annabeth arrives in the wild Grey Sisters’ taxi with urgent news: Camp Half-Blood is in trouble. She asks if he got the dream. The trio heads toward the camp in the sister’s car. Percy asked them if they knew about Grover’s whereabouts. They gave Percy a strange set of numbers he can’t yet decipher.
Before they reached the barrier, Laistrygonian giants attacked them. Tyson helps fend them off, surprising everyone with his fireproof ability. As they fight the giants, Annabeth gives Tyson permission to enter the barrier. While one of the giants entered with him, Clarisse came at the right moment and killed the giant.
Once inside camp, Percy and Annabeth realize the attack was only a diversion. They race to Thalia’s tree and catch Luke poisoning it with Elder Python Venom. Luke is trying to weaken the magical borders that protect the camp.
Percy learns that Chiron has been replaced by Tantalus as the director of Camp Half-blood, who mistrusts Tyson. He instantly ordered to kill him until he was revealed to be Poseidon’s son.

While Percy and Annabeth request Tantalus and Dionysus to send them on a quest to heal the tree, they’re rather focused on the upcoming Chariot race. Moreover, Tantalus sends Percy into confinement with his brother.
That night, Percy dreams of Grover again, but this time they speak. Grover explains they share a telepathic, empathic bond between Satyr and Demigod that allowed him to reach Percy through dreams. That’s only possible among true friends.
He reveals that he is trapped in a cave by the Cyclops Polyphemus, who uses the threads from the Golden Fleece as bait for Satyrs. Its threads smell like Pan, luring satyrs to their doom.
The Fleece can heal anything, including Thalia’s dying tree, and Luke’s rebellions are hunting it too. Before the dream ended, Groves asked Percy to save him. As the cave’s location, Grover repeats the same string of numbers the Grey Sisters gave Percy.
Percy checks the coordinates on a map and realizes they point directly into the Sea of Monsters. With new clarity, he finds Annabeth and tells her he knows how to save Grover and the camp.
Episode 1 delivers a sharp start to Season 2: Grover is missing, the camp’s defenses are collapsing, and Percy must find a way to save Grover.
