Call of Duty Black Ops 6 looks to be gaining hype and traction among fans of the series. After the last title in the franchise, which concluded the Modern Warfare subseries reboot, received a lot of flak from players, it seems like the upcoming title is what the series needs to make a comeback.
Among plenty of rumors about the title, there was also one that said that the game would bring back the theatre mode introduced in the first Black Ops title. Moreover, a statement by the former studio head of Treyarch before Black Ops 4’s release also adds weight to the rumor.

Treyarch might bring theatre mode to Call of Duty Black Ops 6.
The upcoming addition to the Black Ops series in Activision’s premier first-person shooter video game series has fans wondering and speculating about its offerings. Nothing concrete is known about the title’s offering so far.

The game’s teasers are especially a source of immense adrenaline for fans who think the upcoming game will finally deliver what fans hope: a profound and controversial campaign mode. Among all these speculations about the game’s campaign, leakers also shared what the game’s multiplayer modes will offer.
@BobNetworkUK shared one such leak on Twitter, who said that:

While leaks should always be taken with a pinch of salt so that one isn’t disappointed later, previous comments from Treyarch’s former Studio Head, Dan Bunting, explain why the studio could add the theatre mode to the upcoming game:
We also wanted a game [Black Ops 4] that was as fun to watch as it is to play because…People are watching games that they don’t even play these days, so it’s crazy to think a game as a spectator experience is its own thing
While Mark Gordon now heads the video game studio, Bunting’s comments offer insight into how the studio approaches its titles. Also, considering the boom of video game streaming, a theatre mode becomes almost imperative in a title that is part of the most popular FPS series.
Theatre Mode in the Upcoming Call of Duty Title Makes Sense Considering the Current Popularity of Streamers and Esports
The marketing for the game has begun in full force.
Video game streamers are now among the world’s most popular social media personalities. That is because the internet is now a lot more accessible than it was, and so are video games. Activision’s FPS series is always on the most-watched games chart on platforms like YouTube and Twitch.

So, in the current streaming landscape, it almost becomes imperative for a game to offer a mode focused on spectators. Moreover, it would also help the game’s aspirational value, which might help its sales in the long run.
The current Esports scene is also on the rise, and there are tournaments held for various titles, and Call of Duty is one of them. Analyzing other players’ tactics and movements is a massive part of competitive players’ content consumption.
