One Punch Man Season 3 Episode 8 might be the best episode in the entire season so far. It had decent action, plenty of comic elements, and well-executed scenes. The Flashy Flash vs Tempest Wind and Hellfire Flame battle has to be one of the peak animated scenes.
It might not be able to match the best standards in the industry at the moment, but this episode seems like a saving grace for fans who have been begging for a miracle. The anime is back to its parody galore.
When Decent Animation Sticks Out Like a Sore Thumb

The first thing that comes to mind when watching One Punch Man season 3 episode 8 is “Thank God, the characters have finally begun moving.” This is a statement that must have rung across the minds of every viewer who was taken aback and had to double-check if they were watching the right anime.
Episode 8’s animation quality is decent at best, but the performance of the previous episodes was so disastrous that even decent animation sticks out like a sore thumb. The episode had better pacing than anything else so far, and the plot is actually moving ahead instead of dilly-dallying.
At the same time, it is clear that the animators do have the capacity to create something impressive. Yet, the time and budget constraints have been holding the staff back from realizing their full potential. Some episodes have been prioritized over others, but this is too little too late. Seeing Flashy Flash and Child Emperor in action has to be the highlight of the episode.
One Punch Man Season 3 Has Finally Matched Season 2 Energy
One Punch Man season 3 episode 8 cannot hold a candle to season 1, but it might have reached the same level as season 2. It is a small victory for season 3, especially considering the subpar animation quality that was being offered so far. The question that inevitably arises now is: Can the anime maintain the same standard for the rest of the episodes?
At its core, One Punch Man has always been a parody of Shonen anime. In episode 8, the parody-style becomes clear once again as the dialogue exchange between Flashy Flash, Tempest Wind, and Hellfire Flame reflects on the stereotypical dialogues of Shonen anime battles. That is exactly what makes the fight even funnier.
Flashy Flash emerges as the hero with his big talks of idealism and training, while the villains who chose the wrong path end their lives in disillusionment, but not before a brief attempt at trying to make the audience sympathize with them.
All in all, episode 8 was a solid one, and now fans can only wait with dread to see if the next episode will match the same quality or become another disaster.
