7. SMILE – Speed’s Horse SMILE Devil Fruit

Speed didn’t get lucky with a natural fruit – she got handed one of Caesar Clown’s lab-grown SMILEs, and somehow it actually worked. Half-human, half-horse, she ended up with a centaur build, a wild 350-degree field of vision, and legs built for outrunning just about anyone.

She served as a Shinuchi under the Beasts Pirates before Tama’s taming powers flipped her allegiance entirely. Fun fruit, likeable character, but there’s no getting around what she is: a flawed knockoff sitting at the bottom of a very stacked list. She’s one of the better SMILE success stories, but a mass-produced knockoff is still the weakest tier on this list.

6. Artificial Zoan – Momonosuke’s Uo Uo no Mi, Model: Seiryu

Momonosuke’s dragon form looks like Kaido‘s for a reason – it’s a Vegapunk-made replica built straight from Kaido’s own Lineage Factor while he was in Marine custody. It’s not the same fruit and never belonged to Kaido; it’s a copy engineered to mimic his Mythical Zoan powers, with the only flaw being the wrong color (pink and yellow instead of blue).

Vegapunk called it a failure over that detail alone, missing that the actual transformation worked. Momonosuke could barely control it early on and only unlocked flame-cloud flight through trial and error. A near-perfect artificial copy of a Mythical Zoan is still an artificial fruit, and that ceiling keeps it below anything genuine on this list.

5. Zoan – Rob Lucci’s Neko Neko no Mi, Model: Leopard

Lucci turns a plain old Zoan into something that feels borderline unfair. His leopard hybrid form nearly doubles his size and pairs raw strength with claws and teeth he’s genuinely mauled opponents with, on top of Rokushiki techniques most Zoan users could never dream of pairing with a transformation.

CP9, then CP0 – the guy’s spent his whole career being the government’s answer to “what if a Devil Fruit user also trained like a monster.” No ancient bloodline, no mythical branding, just brutal technique stacked on a solid fruit. Proof that a “basic” Zoan in the right hands can outclass fruits with fancier names.

4. Ancient Zoan – King’s Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Pteranodon

King earns this spot on pure hybrid utility – flight, a beak that doubles as a spear, and a battle form durable enough to shrug off Zoro’s strikes for most of their fight on Onigashima. Worth noting: the flames wrapped around his transformation aren’t from the fruit at all; they come from his own Lunarian bloodline.

Strip that away, and you’ve still got one of Kaido’s three strongest subordinates wrapped in a genuine Ancient Zoan, one of the rarer bloodline fruits still in circulation. Ancient Zoans are already elite by default, and King’s combat resume backs up why this one belongs above the others in its class.

3. Paramecia – Whitebeard’s Gura Gura no Mi

There’s a reason people still call this the strongest Paramecia ever recorded – Oda himself confirmed it outright. Whitebeard could crack the sky open and shatter the ocean floor without breaking a sweat, and Marineford proved it wasn’t an exaggeration: his quakes alone tore the battlefield apart before the Admirals stepped in to hold the line.

Paramecia fruits usually top out at “useful,” but this one broke the ceiling of the entire category and made “world’s strongest man” feel like an understatement rather than a title. No other Paramecia has ever come close to matching this kind of large-scale destructive range.

2. Logia – Blackbeard’s Yami Yami no Mi

Darkness that swallows other Devil Fruit powers whole – that’s not hyperbole; that’s literally what this fruit does on contact. Blackbeard‘s Yami Yami no Mi cancels out any other Devil Fruit’s abilities the moment he touches the user, Logia intangibility included.

The catch is brutal irony: it’s the one Logia that can’t turn intangible to dodge, since the darkness absorbs hits instead of letting them pass through, meaning attacks actually hurt him worse than a normal person. Still, as a pure conceptual counter to every other fruit in the series, nothing else in the Logia class comes close. It’s built to counter every other fruit on this list, which is exactly why it edges out Whitebeard’s.

For years, this fruit hid behind a fake name, publicly logged as a basic rubber Paramecia while the World Government quietly buried its real identity for eight centuries. Once Luffy unlocked Gear 5, the truth came out – the legendary Sun God Nika, a figure worshipped by the oppressed for generations, with power that the Five Elders themselves admit is bound only by imagination.

This one comes wrapped in centuries of government cover-up and the heaviest narrative weight in the whole series. Mythical Zoan is the rarest class in the entire series, and this particular fruit carries the heaviest story significance of them all – the clear number one.
