Spoiler Alert !!!This aricle contains spoilers from One Piece manga.
Chapter 1182 of One Piece pushes the already intense Elbaf arc into a much darker and mythology-heavy direction. What initially started as a clash between the Straw Hats, Loki, and the Holy Knights is now turning into something that is deeply connected to ancient fears, divine powers, and possibly even the Void Century itself. After the shocking reveals from Chapter 1179 through 1181, Eiichiro Oda raised the stakes once again with the terrifying introduction of the Rain God Zaza in One Piece Chapter 1182.
At the same time, Loki’s ongoing confrontation with Imu keeps hinting at a much older conflict linked to the Void Century. From Zaza flooding Elbaf to Imu’s mysterious reaction to Loki’s Nidhöggr form, and Sanji and Zoro preparing to fight again, Chapter 1182 feels like the true beginning of Elbaf’s large-scale war.
The Rain God Zaza Turns Elbaf Into a Disaster Zone
Chapter 1182 of One Piece ended with Kilingham’s strongest MMA manifestation yet – the God of Rain, Zaza. Unlike Kilingham’s previous creations, this monster is born from his own fears and nightmares, which makes it feel even more dangerous and unstable than anything we have seen before.

The final panel of the chapter shows Zaza appearing as a gigantic deity-like creation. Her arrival immediately changes the Elbaf battlefield, with different parts of the island being drowned by floodwater while civilians desperately try to escape. The chapter presents an almost apocalyptic scene, with the collapse of buildings while the people around them panic.
The most important detail is that Zaza is not treated like an ordinary monster. The giants imply that people living above the clouds were taught to fear rain from the lower world. At the same time, the chapter gives hints about the World Government also fearing Zaza itself. That revelation makes Zaza feel tied to ancient mythology rather than simply being another powerful summon.
This would be quite significant in the future since Oda has often used storms and unusual weather as part of larger mysteries in One Piece, particularly involving Monkey D. Dragon. Thus, the introduction of a feared Rain God could finally start tying weather control, ancient gods, and the hidden history of the Void Century together.
Loki and Imu’s Battle Intensifies in One Piece Chapter 1182
Even though Zaza’s appearance became the main highlight of One Piece Chapter 1182, Loki and Imu’s fight also remained equally important in the current chapter. Previously, in Chapter 1181 of One Piece, we saw Loki’s Nidhöggr transformation and his powerful attack “Thorheim”, which launched Imu directly into the Treasure Tree Adam. However, instead of showing fear, Imu simply smiled after surviving the attack.

This response becomes even more mysterious in Chapter 1182. Loki continues to use his lightning attacks with Ragnir’s ice powers while Imu counters with devastating black flames and fireballs. The chapter also reveals that Ragnir possesses the Mythical Squirrel-Squirrel Fruit, Model: Ratatoskr, another direct reference to Norse mythology tied to Yggdrasil and Nidhöggr.
The parallels with Norse mythology become even clearer in this chapter. Treasure Tree Adam bears a striking resemblance to Yggdrasil, and Loki’s dragon form is a clear reference to Nidhöggr. Also, Imu’s reaction strongly suggests that this is not the first time he has encountered the Nidhöggr powers. The storyline seems to indicate that Loki’s transformation may be connected to an ancient enemy from the Void Century.
Sanji and Zoro, on the other hand, slowly make their way back onto the field. Instead of sidelining both characters permanently, Oda seems to prepare both of them for the next part of the conflict.
By the end of Chapter 1182, Elbaf no longer feels like just another island arc. With the arrival of the Rain God Zaza, Loki’s connection to ancient mythology, and Imu’s growing role in the story, Eiichiro Oda appears to be transforming the arc into one of the most lore-heavy conflicts in all of One Piece.
