Sami Zyan has finally managed to become the WWE United States Champion, and judging by the easter eggs and the way he is being booked, it seems like he might become the next Grand Slam Champion before John Cena. This championship victory was the first step towards achieving the ultimate goal in Lyon, France.
In a shocking match against Solo Sikoa on the latest episode of Friday Night SmackDown, The Underdog managed to claim the title for himself. Ever since he set foot in the promotion, he had never managed to win the US Championship before, which finally changed on August 29th, 2025.

So far in his career in the WWE, Zayn has proven himself to be one of the biggest draws of the company, generating deafening pops and managing amazing merch sales. But so far, there had been titles that were eluding him on his path to becoming a Grand Slam Champion.
And with him constantly putting his body on the line, like his fight against John Cena with a dislocated shoulder, his efforts are finally starting to pay off. After he won the US Title on Friday, he has taken another step towards reaching the top.
And with so many WWE backstage segments of Zayn stating his desire to become a World Champion being given screen time, these might be the classic Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque cinematic easter eggs being planted before our eyes.
Although he may be on SmackDown now, he can still go after the World Heavyweight Championship, courtesy of both him and Seth Rollins having a recent history of confrontations. And since brands can be switched as per the story’s demands now, it won’t be surprising to see Zayn challenge whoever is holding that title in the future.
WWE Grand Slam Title: Who’s Won It and Who Hasn’t
Apart from the surprising fact that John Cena hasn’t been crowned Grand Slam Champion due to the lack of an Intercontinental Championship reign, there have been many more who haven’t received this opportunity.
To be crowned a WWE Grand Slam Champion, a superstar will need to have at least one reign of a World Championship, Intercontinental Title, United States Title, and a Tag Team Title.
But at the same time, there have been many who can call themselves WWE Grand Slam Champions, including legends like Shawn Michaels, Kane, Chris Jericho, JBL, Jeff Hardy, and many more. In modern times, too, stars like The Miz, Roman Reigns, Kevin Owens, AJ Styles, and many others are amongst the proud holders of this title.
Below is a list of 5 WWE superstars with a Grand Slam title to their name (numbers via The Sportster, ESPN, and The SmackDown Hotel).
