James Gunn has confirmed that a very popular and highly requested song will not be in Man of Tomorrow, the upcoming Superman follow-up.

What song won’t be featured in Man of Tomorrow?

In a post on Instagram’s Threads, Gunn revealed some of his favorite songs from the year. However, he said that he couldn’t give away his actual top songs, as most or all of them are in Man of Tomorrow. A fan then asked that the 1999 song “Kryptonite” from 3 Doors Down be included in the movie.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, Gunn immediately said that it was “not gonna happen.” The song, which was a big hit upon its release, doesn’t explicitly deal with Superman, but does reference kryptonite quite often.

As of now, little is known about Man of Tomorrow, outside of the fact that it will release on July 9, 2027, and that David Corenswet, Hoult, and Rachel Brosnahan are all set to return for the movie.

The Man of Tomorrow is one of Superman’s many nicknames; however, there have also been a handful of DC comic runs that have incorporated the ‘Man of Tomorrow’ name into their official title. There was also a 2020 animated movie titled Superman: Man of Tomorrow, but whether or not the DCU movie will be pulling from any of this source material remains unclear at this time.

Superman is now available to rent or purchase on digital outlets such as Apple TV, Fandango at Home, and more.
