If the title just makes you go “WHY IS KISHIMOTO NOT LETTING NARUTO USE HIS GOD CHAKRA?” then welcome, you are exactly the audience Boruto loves to torment. Here is the thing – Naruto still possesses Six Paths Chakra. It is canon, and it is permanent. Hagoromo did not give him a 24-hour trial version.
However, in Boruto, the Seventh Hokage now looks downgraded from “space-time shredding demigod” to “busy dad who forgot his god-mode password. Moreover, that gap between what Naruto has and what Boruto shows is where the frustration – and the accusations of lazy writing-come in.
Naruto’s Six Paths Sage Mode Abilities Remain Ignored in Boruto
Naruto getting the Six Paths Chakra in Naruto Shippuden was not just some one-time rush of power. Hagoromo gave him full-on Six Paths Senjutsu, which lets Naruto heal crazy injuries, sense chakra all over the world, mess with Yin-Yang Release, and even counter Kill Ash Bones – without needing Kurama.
That stuff stays with him in Boruto. Canon doesn’t say it disappears. No retcon, no nerf, no “Six Paths expired because you forgot to renew your subscription.” Naruto’s base Six Paths Senjutsu is in his body for good, just like Sage Mode. The problem is, Boruto mentions it barely.
However, rather than showing Naruto using any of those Six Paths perks, Boruto has him using regular Sage Mode or a simplified Kurama Mode. The story treats him like he jumped straight from “war god” to “overworked Hokage who runs out of chakra during PTA meetings.”
That’s why fans feel Kishimoto or the Boruto crew is being lazy with it – not that Naruto lost his Six Paths power, but rather the show has acted as if he never had it in the first place.
SPSM Shows Up Less in Boruto as Naruto’s Boosting Chakra Declines
Now, here is the deal – Naruto’s core Six Paths power is still there, but those ultra-flashy boosters from Naruto Shippuden are gone. And those boosters actually mattered.

During the war, Naruto had not just Kurama’s chakra, but pieces from all the Tailed Beasts – that global Bijuu battery really boosted his Six Paths Sage Mode into this glowing, tomoe-marked, flying, Truth-Seeking-Orb-wielding god form.
However, after the war –
Borrowed Bijuu chakra fragments disappeared.
Naruto used all of his Truth-Seeking Orbs
The Tailed Beasts returned to their normal states.
His SPSM visuals naturally softened
And then came Boruto to make things worse. The death of Kurama in the fight against Isshiki took away the biggest booster Naruto had, the creature whose chakra let Naruto mash KCM with Six Paths Senjutsu and push his form to ridiculous heights. Without Kurama, Naruto can’t access KCM2, can’t fuse it with Six Paths, and can’t recreate the Naruto Shippuden-era SPSM look.

What is left? The Base Six Paths Senjutsu, being powerful, delicate, and fully disregarded by Boruto creators. Thus, SPSM does not “appear” in the show. It is not due to Naruto’s losing it, but rather the big chakra boosters that made it look insane are gone, and Boruto doesn’t bother to show the quieter parts of the form.
Naruto, Naruto Shippuden and Boruto: Naruto Next Generations are currently available to watch on Crunchyroll.
