A little unknown fact about Avatar: Fire and Ash director James Cameron is that he was married to A House of Dynamite director Kathryn Bigelow. No, that’s not really an unknown fact.
James Cameron, however, did write the entire story for Kathryn Bigelow and Keanu Reeves’ 1991 action/thriller, Point Break. At least, that’s what the director told The Hollywood Reporter in a recent interview.
I wrote Point Break. I flat out got stiffed by the Writers Guild on that. It was bullsh-t.
The film officially credits W. Peter Iliff for the script for Point Break, but according to Cameron, the due credit is his. If true, this wouldn’t be the first time that Kathryn Bigelow directed a film written by Cameron.
James Cameron Also Wrote Kathryn Bigelow’s Strange Days
Although Point Break was one of the flicks that James Cameron has claimed to have written, there is another film that Cameron wrote and Kathryn Bigelow directed, but she gave official credits to Cameron for this one.
The director duo was married in 1989 but got divorced in 1991. In 1991, Point Break was released alongside James Cameron’s Terminator 2: Judgement Day. Of course, both films were simply phenomenal and had their fair share of success in terms of theaters.

In 1995, Bigelow directed and released an underrated sci-fi movie called Strange Days. The 1995 film was also written by James Cameron, but when the credits rolled, Kathryn Bigelow credited her ex-husband as the writer of the movie.

Although James Cameron and Kathryn Bigelow were initially married in 1989, the Hollywood couple divorced in 1991. In that same year, Kathryn Bigelow’s Point Break was released on July 12, 1991.
Ahead of the release of Terminator 2: Judgement Day (which was released on July 3, 1991), James Cameron and Kathryn Bigelow had divorced, and it is alleged that the two were prioritizing their work over each other.
Considering the hectic lives of both directors, it does make sense that they would choose to focus on their Hollywood careers. The two directors went on to have incredible careers with films like The Hurt Locker, Avatar, and more.
