Some heartbreaking MCU deaths for Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars have been teased.
Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday is currently in post-production. Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, also known as the Russo Brothers, the movie is scheduled to arrive in United States theaters this December. The sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, is dated for 2027.
So far, Marvel has released four Avengers: Doomsday teaser trailers. The first teaser officially revealed that Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers is returning to the MCU, while the second focused on Chris Hemsworth’s Thor and the third on a handful of X-Men characters. The fourth teaser then put the spotlight on Letitia Wright’s Shuri/Black Panther, Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s Ben Grimm/The Thing, and more.
What MCU deaths have been teased in the upcoming Avengers movies?
Scooper James Mack was asked if some of the members of the Thunderbolts/New Avengers — specifically Hannah John-Kamen’s Ava Starr/Ghost, Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Wyatt Russell’s John Walker/U.S. Agent, and David Harbour’s Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian — will survive the events of Doomsday and Secret Wars.
Mack didn’t answer the question directly; rather, they posted a GIF that seems to indicate that not all of them will be surviving the upcoming MCU films.
Plot details for both Doomsday and Secret Wars remain under wraps at this time, meaning this is just a rumor and it should be taken with a grain of salt. There have, however, not been any New Avengers-related projects announced for after Secret Wars, meaning it’s anyone’s guess as to what the future could hold for the team. Notably missing from the list are Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova and Lewis Pullman’s Bob/Sentry, as they are also members of the New Avengers, and it’s unclear what will happen to them in the new Avengers movies.
Avengers: Doomsday arrives on December 18, 2026. Avengers: Secret Wars follows on December 17, 2027.
