Jacob Elordi went from being a heartthrob for teenage girls to a chameleon-like performer and has now built a reputation as an adaptive actor. The Australian star has been able to shift between multiple accents, such as American, British, and Southern U.S. dialects.
In Priscilla, he adopted a Memphis, Tennessee accent to portray Elvis Presley. He had a general American accent in Euphoria, and a Yorkshire-inflected one in Frankenstein and his upcoming movie, Wuthering Heights. So, let’s look at what he says about mastering a unique way of speaking for several of his on-screen characters!
Jacob Elordi Reflects on His Accent and Voice in Past Roles
While preparing to play Elvis in Priscilla, he immersed himself fully in the Tennessee accent and did not switch in and out between takes (via GQ). Even Priscilla Presley herself approved of Elordi’s voice, and her acceptance was the only thing that mattered to him!
His discipline carried into Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, where Elordi played the creature. When he learns to speak in this film, he has a Yorkshire native accent that was inspired by his co-star David Bradley.
He didn’t just have to master an accent here, but also show a vocal evolution. The actor would practise the Yorkshire way of speaking while bathing, and learn local phonetics (via Metro) like “meks” and “teks,” instead of “make” and “take.”
Why Jacob Elordi Had the Same Accent in His Two Recent Films

Jacob Elordi has the same accent in Frankenstein and Wuthering Heights, and this isn’t a coincidence. Emily Brontë’s story is set in the Yorkshire Moors, so all Elordi had to do was amplify the same dialect into a fully developed Yorkshire accent.
Plus, he went from filming one movie to another and had a sort of vocal crossover during the early filming of Wuthering Heights. He admitted to producing grunt-like voices, similar to the Frankenstein creature, which only proves how deeply his character work was embedded in him (via Variety).
Now, Elordi is a fan-favorite choice for playing Batman in James Gunn’s DCU. While he has the physical frame for it, it seems like the actor can also master that deep and hoarse Dark Knight voice with ease! So, what are your thoughts on Elordi learning different dialects and accents? And which one is your favorite? Do let us know in the comments.
