Introduced in season one of Bridgerton, Freddie Stroma, who portrayed the role of Prince Friedrich, appeared for a total of three episodes during the start of the show. However, keen-eyed fans are realizing it now that the actor also played the most hated Gryffindor in Harry Potter that no one seems to remember.
Back in 2009, Freddie Stroma portrayed the role of the arrogant Gryffindor Quidditch player Cormac McLaggen in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.
Although he was there for a short while, a few minutes of screentime was enough for both movie and book fans to hate the character, which only goes to show the actor’s prowess if you think about it.

When Ron was nervous at the breakfast table, Freddie Stroma came to meet him and said that he was also trying out for the Quidditch team. With his ego and arrogance, Stroma intimidates Ron even on the ground when he catches a fly.
While looking at Hermione, who was sitting to see the tryouts, Cormac McLaggen made flirty gestures and remarks. Getting annoyed at Freddi Stroma’s character, Hermione whispers spells that ruin his game, which ultimately leads to Ron Weasley winning the tryouts. Who knew that Cormac McLaggen would quit Quidditch and become a prince in Bridgerton?
How Harry Potter Helped Freddie Stroma For James Gunn’s Peacemaker
Well, Freddie Stroma revealed in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that his time while filming for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince was a wild ride, since this was the first time that he had worked in front of a green screen.
It was definitely the first time in my career that I had to do some pretty extensive green screen work. And then they had a tennis ball that is Ron, another one that’s Harry and another one is the ball coming at you, and you’ve got to deliver your lines to all these things.
Following his stint as Cormac McLaggen and Prince Friedrich in Bridgerton, Freddie Stroma turned his eyes towards James Gunn’s Peacemaker and donned the role of Adrian Chase/Vigilante in the show.
His portrayal in Peacemaker has been getting rave reviews, and there are also rumors that Freddie Stroma might replace Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool in the upcoming MCU movies.
That’s quite an achievement to have since it only felt like yesterday that he was the arrogant Cormac McLaggen in Harry Potter, and now, he’s off to become an inhuman antihero.
Do you think Freddie Stroma can be the next Deadpool? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
Bridgerton, Harry Potter, and Peacemaker are available to stream on Netflix and HBO Max, respectively (USA).
