HBO Max’s Euphoria Season 3 Episode 2 is titled “America My Dream,” and represents another frenetic chapter with a large cast fighting for screentime that is still highly addictive. This chapter is sharp, highly stylized, and punctuated by sudden bursts of humor and violence that make it nearly impossible to look away.
Maddy (Alexa Demie) is the star of Euphoria Season 3, Episode 2, titled “America My Dream.” She walks into a restaurant and pitches Miss Penzler on becoming her assistant. She tells the older businesswoman that she believes in capitalism, hard work, and that she is not entitled to anything. When Penzler’s phone rings, Maddy picks it up and answers it, cementing herself as her new assistant.

During the pandemic, Maddy found her way into management. She discovered Katelyn, turning her into a social media star. That includes OnlyFans, noting the huge market for feet pictures, even offering a special—four pictures, nude, for under twenty bucks. She then hooks Katelyn up with Dylan Reid, for a fee, of course. Penzler finds out and forces Maddy to quit her side hustle.

Of course, a year later, Katelyn is making millions, and Maddy is stuck in the same old assistant job, living paycheck to paycheck. That’s when Cassie contacts her with those “doggy” sex videos. That’s the setup, as we get back to Rue Bennett (Zendaya), who has been traded to Alamo. How? Well, it turns out that Wayne (Babyteeth’s Toby Wallace) never cleaned the scale.
The supply was laced with fentanyl, which then contaminated the drugs delivered to Alamo, claiming the life of one stripper. He calls Laurie, demanding a life for a life. Laurie marvels at Alamo’s ability to have God place young women in his lap. Now that her debt is forgiven, he gives Rue $300 and has her manage one of his gentlemen’s clubs.

The work is not all glamorous. She unclogs toilets and watches strippers turn tricks while selling drugs. Eventually, a stripper named Angel parties with Ruth, marveling at her hellcat abilities in the back of a sedan. Later, we see Alamo (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), Bishop (Darrell Britt), and another associate (Marshawn Lynch) go over Laurie calling him a “Pig” and what it means.
Meanwhile, most of the girls are asking about Trish, the stripper who overdosed on the drugs laced with fentanyl. Rue hears one girl try to call Trish, leaving a voicemail asking if she is okay. We then see Maddy dancing at the club, telling Rue that Cassie messaged her. As Maddy scrolls through her social media pictures, you can practically see the dollar signs in her eyes.

Cassie Howard (Sydney Sweeney), fiancée of Nate (Jacob Elordi), who used to date Chris McKay, before stealing Nate from her best friend, Maddy. Of course, Cassie “won” Nate, so messaging her was a surprise. Cassie tells her that being engaged to Nate means it was God’s plan, so it really wasn’t bad for her to steal Nate away. This allows Cassie to tell Maddy why she really called her.
Cassie wants Maddy to help make her TikTok dog videos, uh, tasteful—something she has failed to achieve. Knowing that Maddy made Katelyn a millionaire, Cassie believes she can help her achieve the financial success needed for the wedding of her dreams. Think of this as a Shark Tank for adult entertainers who do not want to be pornographically famous.

However, Nate is in trouble and may need Cassie’s money. He owes a very dangerous man $550,000, with the debt increasing by $50,000 every month he is late. If he doesn’t pay $100,000 by next week, the man may pull out of the deal. Nate discusses the issue with his father, Cal (the late Eric Dane). They then argue the merits of comparing Cassie to Cal’s history of performing in gay pornographic films.
With Rue’s new management responsibilities, she breaks the news to Angel that Trish overdosed. Angel is upset and crying in the bathroom, sitting on the floor. Rue talks to Alamo, whose manager has told him about her good work. Rue suggests they put Angel into a drug rehab, and he agrees. Though Angel is upset, Rue turns her around on the idea and drives her there herself.

Cassie tells her friend about her OnlyFans account and dressing up as an adult baby because there is a huge market for it. Of course, this gets back to the guests. At the same time, Nate is laying the groundwork to attract investors to his business. This undermines the theory that Nate is successful because why would Cassie need a platform like that to make money for the wedding?
Meanwhile, Rue drops off the stripper at the drug rehabilitation center. The stripper makes Rue promise to come back for her. Rue finds it unusual that she drops her off without a check-in procedure or any paperwork. Rue calls Bishop and tells him she dropped her off. Yet there is someone waiting in a nearby car.
Euphoria Season 3, Episode 2, “America My Dream,” ends with Wayne finding the pigs in Laurie’s pen loose and a flag that says, “Remember the Alamo.” Rue meets Jules (Hunter Schafer), her former “on-and-off” at her apartment. Jules makes her a drink.
