While The Boys is approaching its end with Season 5, Amazon and Eric Kripke are far from finished with this universe. A host of spin-offs are currently in development, including the Jensen Ackles-led prequel series Vought Rising. Alongside Ackles reprising his role as Soldier Boy, Aya Cash will star as one of the leads, reprising her role as Clara Vought, aka Stormfront.
But despite bringing her back as one of the protagonists for the spin-off, Kripke has no intentions to retcon her white supremacist image and have fans root for her (via Screen Rant).
In no way will I ever ask the audience to sympathize with Stormfront. She’s a Nazi, and she sucks.
Season 5 of The Boys has already hinted at Soldier Boy and Stormfront’s love story, which will be explored more directly in this prequel.

What is Eric Kripke’s Vought Rising About?
Set against the backdrop of 1950s New York, it follows Vought’s transition from a WWI military contractor into an entertainment and celebrity empire.
Eric Kripke has described the story as a twisted murder mystery, noting that it’ll be a grimier version of L.A. Confidential, but with superheroes. Further elaborating on the premise, the showrunner told Screen Rant:
I would define it as L.A. Confidential with superheroes. Maybe grimier. Probably, definitely grimier. It’s a murder-mystery, and it’s got that noir-ish… movin’ through the streets and femme fatales and detectives, but also heroin dens, gay bars and pill-popping and famous people. So it’s got a real fun, pulpy vibe that gives it its own energy. It feels like a Pulp Fiction-y kind of mystery-story.
It’ll also feature the early exploits of Soldier Boy and Clara Vought, while also shedding light on their complicated love story.
Vought Rising Was More Challenging for Jensen Ackles

Even though Ackles has been playing Soldier Boy for quite some years now, the spin-off proved to be a whole new ball game for the actor.
Considering it’s a prequel, the story stripped many modern traits from the character, essentially making him a very different figure from the fan-favorite audiences have been witnessing over the years (via Deadline).
It was exciting, and it was a little bit more challenging because I felt like I’d gotten to know modern day Soldier Boy pretty well and had him kind of dialed in. And then it kind of stripped a lot of that away to tell the story of how he was back then, before a lot of the shit had happened.
Furthermore, Eric Kripke has assured fans that even viewers unfamiliar with The Boys will be able to jump into the spin-off, noting that some test audiences who had never seen the main show beforehand still ended up enjoying the spin-off on its own.
