HBO has shared a brand new update for Dune: Prophecy Season 2, which serves as a prequel to Denis Villeneuve’s blockbuster franchise. In a newly released behind-the-scenes video, some of the returning cast members confirmed that they are now back on set as production starts on the next installment of the hit sci-fi epic show.

In addition, HBO has also confirmed the addition of three new cast members, Indira Varma (Game of Thrones), Ashley Walters (Adolescence), and Tom Hollander (The White Lotus), who have been tapped to join Dune: Prophecy Season 2. Further details about their respective characters are still under wraps. Before joining Season 2, Varma was originally attached to play Empress Natalya. However, due to scheduling conflicts, Varma had to exit Season 1, with The Witcher’s Jodhi May replacing her.
Dune: Prophecy is executive-produced by showrunner Alison Schapker and director Anna Foerster, based on Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson’s Sisterhood of Dune novel. The next installment will feature the return of Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, Travis Fimmel, Jodhi May, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Josh Heuston, Chloe Lea, Jade Anouka, Faoileann Cunningham, Edward Davis, Aoife Hinds, Chris Mason, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Jessica Barden, Emma Canning, Yerin Ha, Barbara Marten, and Tessa Bonham Jones.
“From the expansive universe of Dune, created by acclaimed author Frank Herbert, and 10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides, the prequel follows two Harkonnen sisters as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind, and establish the fabled sect that will become known as the Bene Gesserit,” reads the show’s official logline.
Executive producers are Jordan Goldberg, Mark Tobey, Kevin Lau, Monica Owusu-Breen, Matthew King, Scott Z. Burns, and Jon Spaihts, along with Brian Herbert, Byron Merritt, and Kim Herbert. The show is co-produced by HBO and Legendary Television.
