A new set video from the television show The People v. Gorilla Grodd has left fans in stitches. Many are saying that the upcoming series might be the most bizarre installment in the DCU.
The first BTS look at DCU’s upcoming series The People v. Gorilla Grodd has surfaced online. One video captures the filming of a scene in which Gorilla Grodd appears to perform an a cappella number. Several background extras also sing along with the superintelligent ape, all wearing black tuxedos with white gloves.

The Pitch Perfect-esque moment has fuelled hilarious fan reactions, with many left utterly confused about what the context of the scene could be. While some are convinced that the show will be a flop, others believe it could be the best installment in the franchise.
One fan on X, @VersusSEED, said, “oh my f—ing god ? how does this keep getting crazier.” Additionally, @jeffthesharkms reacted, “WHAT is bro doing?,” while another fan, @JohnJones0330, wrote, “What am I watching???.”
Meanwhile, @homeofdcu believes, “I’ve seen enough. Best DC show of all time,” with @JamesLN1F4 saying, “Yep this is gonna be the best thing in existence.”
What else do we know about the new DCU Gorilla Grodd TV show?
DCU’s The People v. Gorilla Grodd is an upcoming true-crime mockumentary-style series for HBO Max, as Deadline reported. Skyler Gisondo reprises his role as Jimmy Olsen from Superman, a young Daily Planet reporter who investigates whether Gorilla Grodd was wrongfully convicted of murdering his father, the king of Gorilla City.
The first season will center around Grodd, who gains psychic powers and more following an encounter with an alien spaceship. In DC Comics, he is a superintelligent ape who gained extraordinary mental powers after being exposed to radiation from a meteorite.
In addition to Gisondo, The People v. Gorilla Grodd stars Jimmy Tatro as the titular ape. Other cast members include Beck Bennett, Mikaela Hoover, and Wendell Pierce. Additionally, Mary Holland, Eduardo Franco, Arian Moayed, Dan Perrault, Andrew Leeds, and Tim Baltz will also appear in undisclosed roles.
Tony Yacenda and Dan Perrault helm the show as showrunners, writers, and executive producers, while Yacenda will also direct all episodes. James Gunn and Peter Safran will join in as executive producers.
The People v. Gorilla Grodd will feature eight episodes. HBO Max has not announced a streaming release date yet.
