Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 saved its biggest card for the finale’s closing moments. The season ender brought back a bulletproof fan favorite whose return had been hiding in plain sight since Jessica Jones first appeared this season.
Luke Cage’s return and Matt’s fate revealed in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2
The Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 finale, “The Southern Cross,” watches Matt Murdock unmask himself as Daredevil on live television.
He throws his cane to reveal the billy club and testifies about Fisk’s crimes aboard the Northern Star. The judge dismisses the case against Karen Page, and the attorney general files charges against Fisk for racketeering and attempted murder.
Outside, chaos erupts when Bullseye seizes a sniper rifle and shoots Buck Cashman. Fisk then barricades the courthouse, trapping Matt, Karen, Jessica Jones, and Kirsten McDuffie inside. Meanwhile, BB Urich goes public as the creator of the Mayor Kingpin videos and calls on New Yorkers to fight back.
Soon after, protesters wearing Daredevil masks storm the building and overwhelm the former mayor. Matt pulls off his cowl and persuades Fisk that their conflict destroys the city they both claim to love. Fisk ultimately agrees to resign, leave New York, and avoid prosecution.
Later, Matt shares a quiet dinner with Karen at the same Indian restaurant from Netflix’s Daredevil. Police arrive moments after and arrest him for the crimes he committed as the vigilante. Heather Glenn’s choice to wear Muse’s mask signals a villainous turn ahead. The season closes with Matt behind bars alongside former Anti-Vigilante Task Force members.
Elsewhere, Mike Colter makes his grand return as Luke Cage in the finale’s final scene at Alias Investigations. He walks in on Jessica Jones and their daughter Danielle after completing overseas work for Mr. Charles. Bullseye, in turn, takes over as Charles’ new operative and boards a plane with the mysterious figure.
Colter teased the comeback on the Inside of You podcast earlier this year. “I’ve had discussions with Marvel,” he said, adding, “And I do think that it’s very, very likely that I will come back at some point.”
Finn Jones’ Danny Rand remains the last Defender missing from Born Again. Set photos place Jones alongside Colter and Krysten Ritter on the Season 3 set in New York City.
Filming continues through July, with a March 2027 premiere confirmed.
