Daniel Radcliffe Was Disappointed After Watching First Harry Potter Film Due To a Ridiculous Reason

Spread the love

Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter has to be one of the most iconic roles of all time. There are many reasons for this, including the fact that he was a perfect person to cast for this role. Having appeared in all eight films of the franchise, it can easily be said that the entire cast grew up with the films and working on the set of the films. This is very clearly seen when comparing the first and the last film, with Radcliffe having been 11 during the release of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, and him being 21 years old in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2.

While giving an interview for the promotion of one of these films, the actor revealed that he hasn’t seen the first film in the franchise as frequently as many would think. He then went on to reveal the reason for this, which is quite interesting and odd.

Daniel Radcliffe Doesn’t Like Watching His First Harry Potter Film
Daniel Radcliffe did an interview on Friday Night With Jonathan Ross, where he talked in great detail about everything surrounding his role as Harry Potter. When the actor’s entrance was announced, a picture of him was put up on a monitor. After sitting down, the actor confessed that this was one of the first times that he had seen himself in this character that young.

“That’s the first time, when you showed it, that I’ve actually seen the first film, pretty much since I did it.”
Radcliffe elaborated further on this, stating that he hadn’t seen the first film, start to finish. He explained his reason for this, clarifying that one day, he was scrolling through the channels on his television when he came across a channel that was playing Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Upon seeing this, he was petrified.

Daniel Radcliffe Hated This Experience
One would assume that there could be many reasons for this, starting with, perhaps the actor not liking his acting back then, having grown so much as an actor. He revealed on Friday Night With Jonathan Ross that he simply cringed at how young he was and how much he has changed. In reality, this wasn’t the case at all as an actor revealed that he was horrified at something completely natural.

“I, sort of, was flicking though channels cause there was nothing on and they were showing the first film and I was listening, and I sort of got up to adjust the sound, it’s just my voice hadn’t broken and so I was listening and it sounded ridiculously high.”

He explained that he hated the way he sounded, having not hit puberty yet. He added that he was disappointed with the way he sounded and the pitch of his voice as it had not broken yet. This was the reason why he was unable to watch older works of his not liking the way he sounded as a child.
