Cold Storage is shaping up to be 2026’s uncanny horror movie of the year, blending body horror with comedy. The David Koepp adaptation delivers exactly what Liam Neeson promises: a wild night of cold storage containment gone wrong.
Early reviews for the movie appear to be favorable, with emphasis on praising the cast and commitment to genre fun. There are gross moments, as expected, but Keery and Campbell’s chemistry, along with Neeson’s deadpan comedic timing, make the movie.

Cold Storage (2026) Full Cast & Crew Details
The ensemble of Cold Storage is stacked, to say the least, with talent that covers the entire spectrum: comedy, prestige, and action. Here is a table of the actors, their characters, and what they’re known for.

Jonny Campbell is directing a screenplay by David Koepp, who is adapting his own 2019 novel and has enough writing credits to his name for this film to be a success: Jurassic Park, Spider-Man, Mission: Impossible, and Minority Report. Koepp and Campbell’s combined vision of the story will definitely thrill genre fans with its high-stakes plot and action.
Jonny Campbell is known for blending horror and playfulness, having done so brilliantly in his acclaimed BBC-Netflix show Dracula, which harmoniously clashes tones. Using a lot of practical creature design with subtle CGI to bring out the viscerally disgusting is just up his alley.
The two are also producing the film with their respective production companies, with filming having taken place across Italy and Morocco. The production employed a genuine Cold War-era military installation for the underground facility sequences.
With the great Liam Neeson leading the cast after the successful Naked Gun reboot that proved he still has it, the movie is hyped to be a fun, gory fest.
Cold Storage Plot: What is Cold Storage About?
Cold Storage | Credit: Samuel Goldwyn Films
The first timeline in Cold Storage sets the stage, beginning with a disastrous discovery in the Western Australian Outback in 1987. When the Skylab space station falls out of orbit, NASA falsely believes it has recovered all debris from the crash site.
In a remote Australian town, residents are found mysteriously dead in the most grotesque manner. Pentagon bioterror operative Robert Quinn and his colleague Trini Romano discover an iridescent green mould on a piece of satellite debris: a parasitic fungus that kills with terrifying speed and adaptability.
The team takes a sample and races their way to the States’ underground military containment facility: a “cold storage” designed to keep biohazard threats at bay. This sets the stage for the current timeline in 2026.
With the military now decommissioned, two low-level employees notice things going amiss when rising underground temperatures trigger the seal on the cold storage. Thus begins the rapid spread of the alien organism, infecting everything in its path.
The grotesque shapes born of the infection turn the film into a survival game for the core cast, who must figure out the dangers of this fungus and how to prevent its spread before humanity is extinct.
The film has positioned itself as a genre hybrid and tonally resembles James Gunn’s Slither (2006) with the energy of Zombieland. All the creators are well aware that this will be a horror B-movie rollercoaster that will likely parody many of its ancestral sci-fi horror inspirations.

Cold Storage remains a theatrical experience for now, with no official streaming date. Based on an expected window for online viewing, Cold Storage is likely to follow the typical 30-45 day cycle of theatrical runs before it hits online markets in late March to early April 2026.
The streaming window will likely occur 45-90 days after a theatrical release, depending on how well the movie performs, so we can expect a release around April-May 2026.
Cold Storage offers exactly what audiences have been increasingly seeking in a theatrical experience post-COVID: a high-concept premise with action and spectacle, featuring a big ensemble cast. This movie is not setting out to reinvent the genre, but to have fun with its B-movie premise.
