Best Blade Ultimate Build in Marvel Rivals Blood Hunt: Traits, Gear, Arcana, and More

Scroll through any Blood Hunt leaderboard filtered to Blade players, and you’ll find almost nothing but his shotgun build at the top. Which, fair enough, it works. But this Marvel Rivals character’s name is Blade, not Gun, and we’re going to use that to make a point here. (Yes, we too made that joke. No, we are not sorry.)

This guide covers the ultimate spam build, the most effective sword-centric alternative for Blade in Blood Hunt right now, and the second-highest damage output you can squeeze out of the hero behind his Gun build. With the right gear rolls cooperating, of course.

If the shotgun-focused route is more your speed, our Gun Blade build guide breaks that one down in full. This build, on the other hand, does its best work against mobs and packed enemy clusters, and it starts leaning harder on gear rolls as you push into higher Nightmare tiers.

The Gun Blade build does scale better and may edge ahead on raw efficiency all the way to Nightmare 160, but holding primary fire indefinitely while the screen slowly dims is considerably less satisfying than watching your ultimate tear through a room full of vampires on a near-permanent loop.

Here’s a quick overview of the gear setup:

Gear SlotItemBase EffectWeaponStakes of Yggdrasil• Ancestral Sword slash damage +XArmorRunic Armor• Health +X• Armor Value +XAccessoryAlchemy Amulet• Critical Hit Rate +X%• Block Rate +X%ExclusiveTwilight Whetstone– Each time an Ancestral Sword slash hits an enemy, the base slash damage is increased for a short time +20

For Extended Effects across your Weapon, Gear, and Accessory, target these in order:

Critical Hit Rate

Critical Damage

Total Damage Bonus

Total Output Boost

Precision Rate

Precision Damage

Now for specific Ability Trait enhancements. These two are not optional, and we cannot stress that enough. They are mandatory, must-have rolls, and you want at least two copies of each spread across your Weapon, Accessory, and Exclusive for this build to be viable in higher Nightmare runs:

Feast of the Hunt Enhancement

Synergy of Swords Enhancement

For the Armor piece specifically, the priority order is: Health % > Healing Rune Charge Slots > Healing Rune Cooldown Reduction > Health > Health restored upon defeating enemy > Armor Value.

As always, the exact priority of your stats will change depending on what actually drops for you. Aim for around 50% Critical Hit Rate and 10% Precision Rate as rough benchmarks, but if your gear ends up stacking one rate noticeably over the other, lean into whichever is higher. Ultimately, your gear is subject to RNG, so adapt on the fly.

Best Traits for Ultimate Blade in Marvel Rivals Blood Hunt

Besides the General Traits that you will need to assign one point each on anyway to unlock each successive level of his skill tree, for this build, we’re going all-in on the left tree while fully ignoring the right side.

General Traits

Here are the damage-side General Traits to max out by Level 60, listed top to bottom of the tree:

Damage Bonus

Output Amplification

Critical Damage

Primary ATK Speed

Critical Hit Rate

Output Amplification

Primary DMG Bonus

Precision Rate

Precision Damage (leave either this or Critical Damage at 3/5)

Critical/Precision Damage Multiplier (whichever rate is higher)

Again, we recommend that you use the above as a starting framework and balance as needed. For instance, if your gear has already stacked Critical Damage comfortably, shift your points toward Precision traits instead.

Ability Traits: Purging Bladedance Tree

For this build, you’re investing entirely in the left tree, Purging Bladedance, and leaving the right side untouched. Here’s the exact allocation:

Swift Edge [3/3]

Demon-Bane Aura [3/3]

Blade Shadows [3/3]

Sustained by Battle [1/1]

Synergy of Swords [3/3]

Feast of the Hunt [3/3]

Hunter’s Aura [1/1]

Max out Scroll of Conquest (Total Output Boost +125% at 5/5) and Scroll of Immortality (Health +750 at 5/5) before touching anything else. Scroll of Blessing and Scroll of Midas do improve gear consistency, so work toward those once the first two are fully upgraded.

For Common Arcana picked up after each phase, here are the offensive red cards to prioritize, in this exact order:

Lethal Strike: Total Damage Bonus +10%

Boss Hunter: 20% Bonus Damage against Bosses

Deep Freeze: Dealing damage has a 3% chance to freeze enemies for 0.5s; Frozen enemies explode on defeat

For defensive blue cards:

Iron Body: Gain a 15% Health Bonus

Indomitable: Gain 5% Damage Reduction

Blood Hunt Ultimate Blade Build: Tips & Tricks

Once your stats are dialed in, the PvE gameplay loop for this build is refreshingly straightforward:

Keep your sword out and Bloodline Awakening activated at all times.

Use primary fire to build ultimate charge quickly.

Save your dash for kiting and emergency exits, not damage.

Pop your ultimate into any grouped mob cluster, let the slash run its full duration, then move on.

Watch the numbers climb on the scoreboard, rinse and repeat.

And here’s why the damage loop actually hits the way it does:

Feast of the Hunt and Synergy of Swords are the two pillars this entire build rests on, and the enhancements you roll for them are what push it into “broken” territory.

Feast of the Hunt already extends your ultimate slash duration by 1.2 seconds at base, and tacks on a 1% damage bonus for every 1% Health a target is missing. Get a couple of enhancement rolls on your gear for it and watch that scaling reach numbers that shouldn’t be allowed.

Synergy of Swords makes your ultimate damage scale off Ancestral Sword damage at 33% base, with each enhancement roll on your gear bumping that number further upward. This is why those two specific enhancements are the whole point of the gear hunt.

Sustained by Battle is what keeps the loop spinning: every Ancestral Sword KO feeds 25 bonus Ultimate Ability Charge back to you (50 for Final Hits), so your ultimate is back up before those vampires even realize what hit them.

And finally, a few things worth clarifying about the build:

Is the ultimate spam Blade build viable in Nightmare 160?

It can hold its own, but if your goal is fast clears at the highest difficulty, the Gun Blade build is the more efficient pick there. Just know that holding primary fire indefinitely does get repetitive pretty quickly, which is exactly the gap this build fills.

Why skip the right Ability Trait tree entirely?

The right tree is oriented around a different playstyle altogether and contributes nothing to the ultimate-heavy damage loop.

Does this build handle bosses well in Marvel Rivals Blood Hunt?

Less so than it handles mobs. The missing-Health scaling from Feast of the Hunt does help against tankier targets, but the raw single-target ceiling is lower than what a shotgun build puts up. Boss Hunter from Arcana is a strong pickup to help close that gap.

Does this build work better in co-op vs. solo runs?

Yes, and it’s especially useful when you have a teammate running an anti-boss build. While your partner handles boss aggro and burst damage, you cycle ultimates through the mob waves without splitting focus, making you the most effective wave-clear in the group without stepping on anyone’s role.

Are you running the ultimate spam build or sticking to the Gun Blade route in Blood Hunt? And for those who’ve pushed to Nightmare 120 or higher on this setup, how much did the gear rolls end up mattering? Let us know in the comments below!
