Electronic Arts is winning big this year and even claims that Battlefield 6 is the best-selling shooter of 2025 (on their official website). Even the claims aren’t entirely wrong, as it has also grossed the highest earnings this year (via Circana).
But Battlefield 6 isn’t the only big name in the top 10 sellers in October 2025, because EA Sports FC 26 and Madden NFL 26 are on the list as well. But the answer is clear, Activision wasn’t able to be the best-selling shooter of this year, and even more so after the release of a Battlefield title.
Electronic Arts Puts Activision To Shame With Battlefield 6 Sales Numbers

All eyes have been on both Battlefield 6 and Call of Duty Black Ops 7 in 2025, and the conclusion can’t be any clearer. Electronic Arts has crushed Activision across the board. Even in terms of player count in the last 24 hours, BF6 held a total of 215,985 players, while Call of Duty had 72,886 players (via SteamDB) despite being a newer game.
Not only that, the launch player count of Black Ops 7 looks puny compared to Battlefield 6, because Activision was only able to attract 72,966 players, while EA managed a staggering 747,440 players at launch. Showing how the tides have shifted.

Additionally, the BO7 campaign has also been disappointing, as the story can be completed in just 5 hours. Some are even saying the campaign is worse than Modern Warfare 3, which showcases how dire the situation is for Activision.
Battlefield 6 Did the Unthinkable in the Last Three Years
Battlefield 6‘s biggest achievement came with its debut in October 2025, marking the best month of game sales (US only) in the last three years. Seeing the dwindling numbers of Black Ops 7 player count, it’s easy to assume the sales weren’t as good compared to EA’s shooter.

Compared to heavy hitters in the last three years like Hogwarts Legacy, Tears of the Kingdom, and Elden Ring, Battlefield 6 etched its name in the history of game sales. Also, this is a big win for shooter games in general as well, because the last few big names were only RPGs.
