After earlier reports indicated that they wouldn’t be in Avengers: Doomsday, three characters with strong ties to the main Multiverse Saga storyline are now expected to be added to the upcoming crossover movie.
When Marvel Studios announced the main cast for Avengers: Doomsday, some major names were missing, including Brie Larson‘s Captain Marvel, Teyonah Parris’ Monica Rambeau, Elizabeth Olsen‘s Scarlet Witch, and Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers. While Evans has since been confirmed to be part of Doomsday, the other three’s inclusion has remained unconfirmed.
Which key MCU characters will be added to Avengers: Doomsday during reshoots?
Back in January, scooper MyTimeToShineHello indicated that Captain Marvel and Monica Rambeau would not appear in Doomsday, much to the shock of the Marvel Cinematic Universe fandom. The two last appeared in 2023’s The Marvels, which featured arguably the most important post-credits scene of the Multiverse Saga, as it teased the introduction of the original Fox X-Men to the MCU.
However, MAJESTIC_ucm, another scooper on X, has now revealed that Larson and Parris, as well as Olsen, will be “coming back in April-May for re-recordings.”

The interesting part of this scoop is the use of “re-recordings” instead of “reshoots,” suggesting that the three actors will only be brought in for Automated Dialogue Replacement, which involves actors re-recording dialogue in a studio to fix technical issues, background noise, or enhance performances after filming.
It’s been heavily reported that the Scarlet Witch will be one of Doom’s followers in the movie, and as such, will be wearing a costume similar to Doom’s for most of the movie. With her face hidden behind a mask, it’s possible that Marvel used a stand-in for Scarlet Witch during filming, and Olsen will merely be providing the voice for the character.
Using a stand-in during filming for a character whose face isn’t shown isn’t a new concept in Hollywood, as Lucasfilm did something similar on The Mandalorian. Due to scheduling conflicts, Pedro Pascal is often not on set for the Star Wars show. Stand-ins are used to portray the main character, Din Djarin, in armor, with Pascal merely providing his voice and portraying him in scenes where he is unmasked.
As for Captain Marvel and Monica Rambeau, if Larson and Parris were part of the initial filming for Doomsday, Marvel kept their involvement under wraps. If they weren’t and stand-ins were used, it could indicate that neither will have a large role in the movie, although that remains purely speculative at this time.
Avengers: Doomsday will hit theaters on December 18, 2026, as part of Phase 6 of the MCU.
