In Helldivers 2, there is almost nothing that can’t be unlocked through gameplay. That “almost” is exactly what frustrates players the most. It refers to the three armor sets originally tied to the game’s pre-order bonus.
During the Xbox release announcement in July, Arrowhead stated that PS5 and PC players would eventually be able to unlock these items. Months later, that promise has yet to become true. Instead, many believe the studio is quietly backing away from its earlier commitment.

When a developer responded to a player’s question about the pre-order bonuses for Xbox on Discord, it reassured the community that PS5 and PC players would eventually be able to unlock the pre-order bonuses at a “later stage.”
The armor sets involved: TR-7 Ambassador of the Brand, TR-9 Cavalier of Democracy, and TR-62 Knight. These sets have been some of the most requested cosmetic items in the game since launch. However, the vague wording of that statement has aged poorly.
So what’s the hold up? byu/User_Insanity inHelldivers
Nearly two years after Helldivers 2 originally launched, and more than five months after the Xbox version went live, there is still no way for players to unlock those armor sets if they didn’t pre-order. This prolonged silence has caused many players to question whether the promise will be honored.
As weeks and months pass by, community frustration only continues to grow. What once felt like a promise now increasingly feels like an abandoned commitment, leaving PS5 and PC players stuck waiting with no clear end in sight.
Arrowhead Is Undermining Its Own Progression System

For many Helldivers 2 players, customization is a major part of the long-term experience. While it is true that the game thrives on its chaotic gameplay, it’s the visual identity and the ability to express themselves that make the players come back for more. Whether it’s the armor sets or capes.
This allows players to express individuality while fighting for Super Earth. Arrowhead has reinforced this culture by offering permanent battle passes that can be farmed entirely through gameplay, removing the fear of missing out and encouraging long-term progression.

This player-friendly approach is precisely why the missing pre-order armors stand out so much. They represent a rare exception to the game’s otherwise open progression system. Since there is no cross-progression, players couldn’t even get that armor on their main account if they wanted to.
As a result, their non-availability creates tension within a community that has grown accustomed to earning everything through effort rather than exclusivity. With player impatience steadily rising, the solution feels obvious: make the armor set available during one of the major updates.
Doing so would align with the game’s core philosophy and satisfy one of the community’s most persistent demands. Did you pre-order the game and have the 3 armor set,s or are you also waiting to get your hands on them? Comment below to let us know.
