Chris Pratt’s most recent confession about trying to get cast as DCU’s Batman might be one of his funniest anecdotes. During an appearance on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, the Marvel star with a $100 million net worth (via Celebrity Net Worth) revealed that he photoshopped himself into a Batman mask and sent the image directly to James Gunn.
And that was it, no Bat-Signal lighting up on Pratt’s phone, even he agrees that it’s “safe to say,” he’s not “going to be Batman.” Gunn only responded with a “haha,” and the story instantly went viral because of what it says about the dynamic between Gunn and Pratt.
What Does James Gunn’s Reaction to Chris Pratt’s Batman Suggest?
James Gunn is Chris Pratt’s longtime collaborator and close friend, and their working relationship spans three Guardians of the Galaxy films. Gunn helped shape Pratt’s career into Star-Lord, one of the MCU’s most beloved characters.
So, Gunn’s “haha” wasn’t dismissive, but it reads more like an inside-joke energy, as in, they goof around like this all the time. But there’s something productive that we learned from the conversation as well, because Pratt said (via Happy Sad Confused):
I think there’s some that I think I can play, and he probably feels the same way, but there’s nothing. I’d like to be mysterious and lead people on a little bit, but in all honesty, I don’t know what that character would be. I would love to work with him again though.
Given their close relationship and how fond they are of each other, we’ll probably see Pratt in the DCU, just not as Batman, because that’s a whole different beast, and Gunn is being patient with the casting. Meanwhile, fans have been busy pitching their own Dark Knight to the DCU.
Is Chris Pratt Among the Favorite Fan Casts for DCU’s Dark Knight?

Despite his star power, Chris Pratt has not been a frontrunner in the speculations for the DCU’s new Batman and was rarely mentioned during fan casts. Most polls are dominated by comic-accurate choices such as Jensen Ackles, Alan Ritchson, and Jake Gyllenhaal.
After Jacob Elordi’s performance in Frankenstein, he’s become another favorite choice for Batman. Brandon Sklenar was also a part of the conversation for a while. But which of these actors do you think is perfect to don the cape and the cowl?
