When Apple announced that it had secured a deal with Brandon Sanderson, fans rejoiced. Cosmere is one of the most diverse settings of fantasy fiction, and Sanderson has a very loyal fanbase. With the kind of money that Apple can bring to the setting that Sanderson has crafted, it makes sense that fans are hyped for what could be the next big fantasy IP of the decade.
Sanderson has always been very transparent with his fans. The author makes it a point to offer weekly updates on the various projects that he has announced. These include the various novels that he is writing, and the Mistborn adaptation that he is penning for Apple.
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the degree of say that Sanderson has in these projects far exceeds the say that George R.R. Martin and J.K. Rowling had in the adaptations of their respective works.

Brandon Sanderson revealed that he has had a very productive conversation with Apple about his Mistborn adaptation. According to the author, the script for the film is 13% complete. Of course, this has not been read by anybody at Apple.
Sanderson revealed on his weekly update that he has been talking to execs about what they would like to see in the adaptation. This is so that the author can make a treatment that can guide how the films are going to be made. The Stormlight Archives author has stated that he would like to get the script done by summer. He is sure that this deadline is good enough for the first draft, as there will be back and forth between him and the studio.
It is standard practice for there to be multiple drafts of scripts before the studio settles on a production date and begins hiring a crew. Sanderson also has anticipated that there are bound to be some pauses in his drafting of the screenplay. He has said that he might want to do some other projects in between as he drafts the script.
Brandon Sanderson’s Other Novel Series Is Being Adapted Into A TV Series

Apple has bought the rights to Sanderson’s entire Cosmere universe. Cosmere is a shared universe in which most of Sanderson’s various fantasy novels are set. It is akin to a galaxy with multiple worlds that follow the same basic principles of magic and share a wider cosmology and cosmic history.
While there are characters that appear in different books, Sanderson has endeavoured to write each of his series in such a way that they can be enjoyed without having any idea about the wider Cosmere universe. While Mistborn is being adapted into a series of films, The Stormlight Archives, a different series set in the same universe, has been picked up for a TV Series. Sanderson did not provide any update for the show in his latest video.
