Spoiler Alert !!!Spoiler Alert for A Thousand Blows Season 2!
A Thousand Blows Season 2 continued the brutal, atmospheric Victorian drama of boxers, criminals, and gang leaders struggling for power, survival, and redemption in 1880s London. Building on the first season’s arc, the finale ties together the character arcs in an enticing tale of betrayal, revenge, and uneasy alliances.
In the second season, Mary Carr regroups the troop while forming an unlikely partnership with Mesmerist Sophie Lyons. Hezekiah finds an opportunity to change time, while Sugar and Treacle Godson are stuck in a highly unfavorable situation.
After Hezekiah Moscow gets banned from the West End, he ends up taking the underground ring. One day, he finds Sugar wasted away and helps him by taking him to the Blue Coat Boy pub. There, Alice arrives as well, along with others, and asks them to join her. She goes upto to Sugar and informs him that a job is coming up and he had better get sober.
The next day, the news arrived that the king of the Elephants, Indigo Jeremy, was dead. It is revealed that Mary was the one who orchestrated everything with the help of Hezekiah, as he wanted revenge for Alec’s death. However, people figured out it was Hezekiah who did the deed, and the Bull, along with other Elephants, marched out to Wapping.
There, the Goodsons refuse to give up the boxer. But things turn tumultuous when a confrontation takes place, Treacle’s daughter Rose is shot, and Sugar murders Bull. Mary Carr announces herself as the new queen of the Elephants, while Treacle’s wife, Marianne, takes away the kids, and Thomas remains with his father.

As all of this is unfolding, Murtagh ends up coming to Wapping. He learns of a French anarchist, Henry Duval, who died in a fight between the Goodsoons and the Jeremys, but his dynamite stash is in the neighborhood, making Murtagh fear that Mary might use it for her own advantage.
He wants to find Mary before it is too late and pulls off a twist by hiring a mole. The mole is none other than Sugar. As Murtagh learns, Treacle was found to be the person of interest in the murder of a s*x worker by the docks. Using this, Murtagh blackmails Sugar to spy for him. Mary ends up learning about it, realizing that her life is in danger.
Why Do the Forty Elephants Want to Steal the Caravaggio Painting?

At the heart of Season 2’s most audacious scheme is a high-stakes art heist crafted by Mary Carr and her reluctant partner Sophie Lyons. They have to steal a Caravaggio painting, Martha and Mary Magdalene, for an oil magnate client. However, the painting is hidden in Graften’s (an art collector) vault. They will have to stage a heist while also convincing Graften to take the painting out of display.
They have Alice pose as the daughter of a shipping magnate, Silas Drake. This makes the Graftans throw a lavish Christmas Ball while also displaying the painting. Sophie then pulls off a brilliant mesmerist demonstration, distracting everyone while the Forty Elephants, posing as choir girls, attempt to steal the painting.
However, it all goes downhill when Mary helps out a choir girl who is being assaulted and pulls out a gun. Eventually, everyone is forced to give up their disguise and leave.
Does Alice Betray Mary Carr For Sophie in A Thousand Blows?
One of the season’s most emotional pivot points is the question of loyalty within the Forty Elephants. Among Mary’s circle, Alice Diamond has been one of the most reliable allies. In the second season of A Thousand Blows, Sophie starts poisoning Alice Diamond by making her doubt Mary’s leadership.
Since Mary is affected by her mother’s death, Alice is at the center of the painting heist. While they end up escaping successfully, once at their safehouse, it all goes down. Sophie is angry that their cover is blown and all her allies are lost. She refuses to pay and takes out a gun. Surprisingly, Alice follows along, pointing a gun at Mary.
They take the stolen painting, and Alice gets all the money. While Sophie asks her to follow her to New York, she leaves, stating that there is something more she has to take care of. While it comes as a shock, it is later revealed that Alice never wronged Mary.
Knowing that Sophie might try to pull off something like this, Alice made another deal with Graften. Later, when Sophie presents the painting to her client, it is revealed to be a painting of Mary done by Graften’s friend. Alice, meanwhile, takes the money back to the Forty Elephants, thus tricking the American trickster while remaining loyal to Mary.

Murtagh blackmails Sugar to spy on Mary by claiming that his brother Treacle was the one who murdered a s*x worker on the docks. Sugar is unsure whether his brother committed the crime or not, since Treacle is depressed and suffers from mental complications to the point that he doesn’t remember stuff. Knowing that he won’t be able to do anything if the law convicts him, he decides to work for Murtagh.
However, he later pays a local copper, Brenner, to find the truth and discovers that Murtagh had intentionally altered the case’s timeline to look like Treacle was involved. Once convinced of his brother’s innocence, Sugar and his allies all come together against Murtagh.
Not only is Murtagh after Mary by using the Goodsons, but he is also after Hezekiah. In the midst of this, they discover that Murtagh is also the enemy of Jack Mac, a friend of Duval, who is more than happy to lend them the dynamite supply. So when Murtagh takes Treacle and tells Sugar to bring Mary, they make a plan.

They make him come to a house in the neighborhood. When Murtagh sees Sugar taking Mary, he enters while his men stand outside with the younger Goodson. Hezekiah frees Mary, telling her to run away, and then goes outside with Lao to free Treacle and fight Murtagh’s men standing outside on guard.
Inside, Sugar confronts him and beats him. He lights up the dynamite, but just as he starts to walk out, the fallen man suddenly shoots him. While it looks like he died, Sugar escaped with just a bullet in his shoulder, while Murtagh died in the dynamite explosion. They also pay Brenner to cover up the event as an accident.

At the start of Season 2 of A Thousand Blows, Victoria Davies convinces Hezekiah Moscow to teach boxing to Prince Albert Victor. He is the second in line to the throne and is gearing up for his debut in the West End ring. In exchange, Prince Albert gives up his sugar plantation in Jamaica’s Morant Bay. Thus, he wanted to go to Jamaica at the start of the season.
The deal is valid only if Prince Albert wins his first fight. Well, he ends up winning, and Hezekiah wins the plantation. Albert also works to get his mentor’s ban lifted, after learning that it wasn’t Hezekiah’s fault that his last boxing opponent died in the ring. When Hezekiah enters the ring, he is pitted against another Black boxer, Nathaniel Washington, who is from America.
While Hezekiah ends up winning, Washington also extends an offer to him to come to New York. He tells him how there is a way to change things for Black people, as he can join the civil liberty movement, and that he would find a community that would actually support and love him.
At the end, he ends up going to New York and leaves the land to Alec’s family. Accompanying him is Mary, who not only rewarded Alice for her loyalty but also named her successor as the queen of the Forty Elephants.
