What do we see in the Minions & Monsters video?
In an interview with Variety at the Los Angeles premiere, Jeff Bridges was asked if he could speak Minionese, as shown in the video.i.ng copyright. However, he does not get it right, turning the attempt into a hilarious moment.

He goes on to talk about his role as a ‘child’s play,’ saying, “I think of my job as a sort of advanced play, you know, just the kind of extension of playing when we were kids, you know. Going over to the cool kid’s house and getting all of those cool toys and playing.”
The upcoming film introduces two new characters, James and Henry, who have fallen in love with making movies and want to make a monster movie of their own. They use a spellbook from an old boss and summon real monsters to serve as the villains in their movie. Things quickly spiral out of control, setting the events of the film in motion.
The film’s synopsis reads, “This is the rambunctious, ridiculous and totally true story of how the Minions conquered Hollywood, became movie stars, lost everything, unleashed monsters onto the world and then banded together to try and save the planet from the mayhem they had just created.”
Minions & Monsters is a prequel to the Despicable Me story and a sequel to Minions: The Rise of Gru. The cast of the movie includes the acclaimed voices of Allison Janney, Christoph Waltz, Jeff Bridges, Jesse Eisenberg, Zoey Deutch, Trey Parker, Bobby Moynihan, and Phil LaMarr. Janney, Waltz, and Bridges are Academy Award winners, with Waltz holding two.
The movie is directed by Pierre Coffin, an Academy Award Nominee for Best Animated Feature Film in 2014. Coffin has also directed the last three Despicable Me movies and Minions (2015). He has also voiced the Minions since the franchise debut.
The film was co-written by Coffin and Brian Lynch, best known for writing The Secret Life of Pets films. Bill Ryan and Chris Meledandri, Illumination’s founder and CEO, serve as the film’s producers.
Minions & Monsters will be out in theaters on July 1, 2026.
