4 Godzilla and Mothra movies are coming to Netflix
Four sci-fi monster movies will be added to the Netflix library on July 1, 2026. As per What’s on Netflix, these are Godzilla, Mothra, and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack, and the Rebirth of Mothra trilogy, released between 1996 and 1998.
Directed by Shūsuke Kaneko, Giant Monsters All-Out Attack is a direct sequel to 1954’s Godzilla. Ignoring events in the other films in the franchise, it is also reportedly part of a standalone continuity that includes the 1998 American feature of the same name.
An incomplete version of the film first premiered at the Tokyo International Film Festival on November 3, 2001. A completed version was later released a month later on December 15. Premiering as a double feature alongside Hamtaro: Adventures in Ham-Ham Land, it reportedly grossed roughly $18.6 million at the global box office.
Chiharu Niiyama stars as Yuri Tachibana, a reporter who covers the story of Mothra, King Ghidorah, and Baragon defending Japan from Godzilla, an onryō creature possessed by souls of those killed during the Pacific War. The supporting cast includes Ryūdō Uzaki, Masahiro Kobayashi, Shiro Sano, and Hideyo Amamoto, among others.
Meanwhile, Rebirth of Mothra, a reboot of the Mothra series, arrived in Japan on December 14, 1996. Helmed by Okihiro Yoneda, the cast includes Megumi Kobayashi, Sayaka Yamaguchi, Aki Hano, and Kazuki Futami, among others.
The sequel, Rebirth of Mothra II, dropped a year later on December 13, 1997. Kunio Miyoshi directed, while Kobayashi, Yamaguchi, and Hano reprised their roles, starring alongside new cast members like Hikari Mitsushima and Masaki Otake.
Finally, Rebirth of Mothra III arrived on December 12, 1998. Okihiro Yoneda directed the movie, which stars Kobayashi, Hano, Misato Tate, Koichi Ueda, and Atsushi Onita.
