Vin Diesel has teased an emotional finale for fans in Fast Forever, the 11th film in the series. The upcoming installment has been in development for over three years now.

What did Vin Diesel say about Fast & Furious 11?

Vin Diesel has shared some new comments about Fast & Furious 11. Taking to Instagram, Diesel wrote, “FAST. Wow. A year and nine months out, this one’s gonna hit hard… the fans who’ve stood by it deserve a proper finale. Almost three decades of fighting for every frame. Best fans in the world… every minute worth it.”

Diesel’s comments draw attention to the fact that the franchise debuted nearly three decades ago, in 2001. The original film, directed by Rob Cohen, focused on the world of street racing. Of course, the franchise has since shifted gears into the action genre, with each new film presenting more ridiculous car stunts. The series also spawned a spinoff, Hobbs & Shaw, led by Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham, as well as an animated series on Netflix. The franchise has grossed more than $7.4 billion worldwide at the box office.

Most recently, four new Fast & Furious TV shows were announced by Peacock, with Vin Diesel heavily involved with the projects. Fast Forever is being written by Michael Lesslie, and it will be directed by Louis Leterrier, who also helmed Fast X. The upcoming film will likely pick up after the cliffhanger ending of Fast X, which ended with Dom and his son trying to escape a trap created by Dante (Jason Momoa).

The final movie is expected to bring back Dwayne Johnson’s Luke Hobbs, who was teased in Fast X’s post-credits scene. Before that, Johnson will star in a new spinoff, Hobbs & Reyes, to set up Fast Forever.

Fast Forever is currently dated for release on March 17, 2028.
