10 Marvel Heroes You Forgot Have a Healing Factor

Most Marvel heroes with healing factors have been forgotten, or their other abilities have been so overpowering that fans forgot they also have other powers. Irrespective of that, the most popular Marvel heroes with a healing factor are Wolverine and Deadpool.

In this article, we will not only shed light on the heroes that you forgot have the ability, but also why this ability was overshadowed. Let’s find out which heroes have healing abilities, and nobody talks about it:

1. Spider-Man – Peter Parker

Despite Spidey being one of the most popular heroes in Marvel, his healing abilities are almost forgotten. Perhaps it’s because his healing powers are more muted than flashy. He can recover from minor cuts and also set his broken bones in days instead of taking months.

While Wolverine’s healing factor defines him, fans cannot say the same for Spider-Man, which is still the greatest Marvel movie of all time. This is possibly because he is the ‘friendly’ neighborhood superhero. Associating him with having healing powers makes him less relatable when humanity is his entire brand. So, this might be one of the reasons Marvel does not shout about the ability from the rooftops.

2. Black Tarantula – Carlos LaMuerto

This hero is an extension of Spider-Man, but an anti-hero, which explains why his abilities are forgotten as well. He essentially has the same level of healing abilities as Deadpool and Wolverine. Carlos can heal fatal wounds on himself as well as heal others’ fatal wounds with a touch.

His healing factor is strong enough to use it to heal a stab in his own heart. However, because of the narrative he is always a part of, he tends to be the supporting character in someone else’s story. This means he has never had the narrative positioning to reveal this ability more often.

3. Moon Knight – Marc Spector

When the character itself is built on the foundation of uncertainty, its healing ability is often forgotten about completely. Because of this, readers and fans cannot agree if what Moon Knight is going through is actually real or a hallucination, and Marvel leans into this ambiguity.

Fans believe that Khonshu wasn’t real, and Marc was imagining things in a near-death experience, but there is still no confirmation on how he healed from his death-like state. The character is such that even if he heals, readers will wonder if it was real. He develops his powers through the moonlight, giving rise to his unpredictable fighting style, and does not sustain injuries. His dissociative identity disorder, the mythology, all of it leads to his healing factor being forgotten because of how complex the character is.

4. Captain America – Steve Rogers

The super soldier serum gave Steve Rogers more than just strength and a shield; it gave him healing powers as well. He became peak human in every aspect, including faster healing. However, it is easy to forget this when Marvel always framed him as the most human ‘moral’ and emotionally right Avenger.

This made readers and fans forget that the hero does have healing abilities from the serum. He heals faster than a normal person, is immune to diseases, but he still can get hurt. This has led readers to see him as the “tough guy” who takes a beating instead of acknowledging his healing factor.

5. Sub-Mariner – Namor McKenzie

Forgetting this hero’s healing ability will come quite easily to fans, as his power is associated with water. His ability to heal is conditional on how long he is out of water compared to when he is inside the water. However, when he is fully hydrated, he has the extreme power to heal completely.

His healing factor might be forgotten because of his fluctuating power. It is easy to overlook the ability when his narrative is to keep himself near water. Additionally, the character is quite arrogant, which makes it difficult for readers to see things beyond that.

6. Blade – Eric Brooks

In addition to being a vampire, Blade also has healing powers. Although quite obvious, it is often something fans forget. Normal ways are not enough to kill him, as he can heal from brutal wounds, including wounds like missing limbs, which gives him the power to regenerate them.

The vampire hunter ironically gets his powers from the very thing he hunts. The character’s power comes from a curse he wants to eradicate, which is why his healing factor is often forgotten about.

7. Iron Fist – Danny Rand

The superhero’s powers are channeled from chi, which provides him mastery in various martial arts forms. However, with this concentrated power comes his healing abilities, which he can use to heal himself and others.

Despite his healing factor being as versatile as it is, it is still forgotten. This is possibly because his identity is rooted in martial arts. His dominant ability leads all his other powers to take a back seat. However, fans of the warrior should know he also has this factor in addition to all the other powers he gets from concentrated chi.

8. Sentry – Robert Reynolds

A hero with immense power was one of the reformed villains who became a superhero. It should come as no surprise that he also has healing abilities. Even if he is shot in the face, ripped apart, he has always been able to heal himself quite easily.

But there’s a catch: his mental stability. Sentry cannot use his healing factor if he hasn’t been mentally stable. So his power is not restricted by physical damage but by his mental health. The ability works only if Sentry thinks it will, which often makes it a power fans often forget he possesses.

9. Wiccan – William ‘Billy’ Kaplan

Wanda’s son, Wiccan‘s healing is more magical than natural. This is why his healing ability is often forgotten, as readers always think about spell-casting and reality manipulation, true to his blood.

However, his healing ability is not an inherent power; it comes with his chaos magic, passed down to him by his mother. This means even fans of Young Avengers will not remember that Billy has this ability within him. The ability is hidden away in front of his destiny and his relationships.

10. Triage – Christopher Muse

A still from Marvel Comics | Credits: Marvel Entertainment

One of the new superheroes developed his healing abilities after the Phoenix dispersion, which led him to get his mutant X-gene. The hero began to form his powers slowly, including healing powers, where he can bring people back even from death.

The most destructive forces on Earth are what led to the creation of someone who is the strongest healer as of yet. His powers are brand new and have not been as well-known to fans as the other Marvel heroes on this list. The Phoenix did not just destroy but also created a superhero who is capable of undoing all the destruction it made.

Here are the heroes, who fans and readers often forget have healing abilities:

These heroes, along with their healing ability, are often forgotten because of its invisibilty. It’s not as visible as their sheer strength or speed, which is what fans usually notice in the characters. Marvel has made its characters with these abilities in a way that is more than powerful; they are impossible to defeat with their healing factor.

Will Peter Parker have healing abilities in Brand New Day?

As per the trailer, the superhero seems to be mutating; however, there has been no confirmation about his healing abilities.

Is Black Tarantula a Spider-Man villain?

The anti-hero has often been referred to as a foe to both Peter and the Punisher in Marvel comics.

Is Sentry good or evil?

He is considered a superhero with immense power; however, he is dangerous if he unleashes his alter ego, the Void.

Let us know which Marvel character you were most surprised had healing abilities in the comments below.
