Each offers unique 2-piece and 4-piece bonuses that cater to different combat styles. Remember, all armor sets can be upgraded to keep you alive, but only a few with their niche bonuses will make you thrive as a pirate.

We have ranked all six Windrose armor sets from worst to best based on their stats, synergy, and overall utility in combat.

6. Privateer’s Regalia

The Privateer’s Regalia is the weakest armor set in Windrose. This is due to its 4-piece bonus being far too situational and risky.

2-Piece Bonus: +10% Critical Hit Chance

4-Piece Bonus: +10% Critical Damage per nearby enemy (Max 30%)

We agree that a flat 10% critical hit chance sounds awesome, but the 4-piece bonus is pretty atrocious. It requires you to be surrounded by three enemies to reach its maximum 30% critical damage cap.

Surviving an enemy swarm in Windrose is already dangerous. Relying on multiple attackers just to trigger your armor’s damage buff is not a reliable strategy. This strategy would fail as soon as you encounter a tough enemy or a boss.

5. Marksman’s Rig

The Marksman’s Rig is a niche set built entirely around ranged weapons and high mobility. As such, this wouldn’t be suited for a large number of players.

2-Piece Bonus: -30% Stamina drain for sprinting, jumping, and dodging

4-Piece Bonus: +15% Damage to ranged weapons

This set is ranked lower because it forces you into a specific playstyle. While the stamina reduction is neat for fooling the enemies, you will spend most of your time managing gunpowder and ammunition supplies.

Soon, the 15% ranged damage buff will become a chore in itself. Hence, you are not playing a dedicated musket or pistol build; this set is practically useless.

The Pikeman’s Armor is an excellent heavy armor set. However, it forces you to commit fully to a bruiser playstyle utilizing massive two-handed weapons.

2-Piece Bonus: +15% Damage to two-handed weapons

4-Piece Bonus: +200 Max HP

The biggest drawback is the massive +200 Max HP boost, which is locked behind the 4-piece requirement. This absolutely kills it from any universal appeal.

However, if you’re running a Strength-focused proper bruiser build its perfect for you. It will turn you into a devastating frontline tank. But players using any other weapon type will find the 2-piece bonus completely useless.

3. Flibustier’s Attire

The Flibustier’s Attire is the definitive set for players who prefer fast and relentless combat. Especially if you rely on the top-tier weapons in melee, like sabers or rapiers.

2-Piece Bonus: -20% Stamina drain for attacks

4-Piece Bonus: +15% Damage to one-handed weapons

This armor is fantastic for maintaining offensive pressure. Since the 20% stamina reduction allows you to swing significantly more times before needing to back off. But you must be adept at dodging and parrying to survive.

This is the only drawback of the Flibustier set: the lack of defensive bonuses. It is a great offensive set, but it cannot carry you through the endgame battles.

The Tracker’s Leathers is the best support and survival set in Windrose. This is an invaluable quality for co-op play and difficult solo encounters.

2-Piece Bonus: +10% Damage Reduction

4-Piece Bonus: +45% Healing Effectiveness

This is an incredibly powerful armor set in the game. Since the 45% healing effectiveness applies to both yourself and any allies you heal with bandages or potions.

Even if you’re taking on the game solo, it’s a highly useful set. The combination of a flat 10% damage reduction and massively boosted self-healing is chef’s kiss. These traits make it incredibly difficult for enemies to eliminate you.

The Conquistador’s Armor is definitely the best armor set in Windrose. Since it provides unmatched defensive utility and crowd-control immunity.

2-Piece Bonus: +15% Damage Resistance

4-Piece Bonus: Grants the “Bulwark” passive (Hyperarmor)

In a game where enemies can quickly deplete your health, a flat 15% damage reduction is invaluable. Obtaining this mitigation from just two armor pieces makes it the best survival tool available.

On top of that, the 4-piece Bulwark passive grants you hyperarmor. It prevents enemy attacks from stunning you or interrupting your own animations, i.e., attacks, healing, or object interaction. If you want to build an unstoppable tank, this is the only set you will ever need.

Keep in mind, Windrose allows you to equip five armor pieces at once. Hence, the absolute strongest build in the game is not a complete set but a hybrid one.

We suggest you combine two pieces of the Conquistador’s Armor (+15% Damage Resistance) with two pieces of the Tracker’s Leathers (+10% Damage Resistance). This way, you will achieve a massive 25% flat reduction to all incoming damage.

We promise it will look neat as well. Also, your fifth slot is free for any helm or gloves you prefer. This combination will make you look dapper and incredibly durable during brutal boss encounters.
