The latest DC Universe casting rumor has surfaced online, revealing that DC Studios CEO James Gunn may have already chosen who will be the next actress to play Wonder Woman. This comes over two years after Gal Gadot had last portrayed the iconic superhero in Shazam! Fury of the Gods and The Flash.
Who is reportedly the top choice for DCU’s Wonder Woman?
The newest DCU rumor comes from Deuxmoi, who claims that Andor star Adria Arjona is reportedly Gunn’s “number one choice” to play the DCU’s Wonder Woman. The Hit Man star is no stranger to the superhero genre, as she previously appeared in Sony Pictures’ 2022 Marvel movie Morbius.
This casting rumor comes after it was recently reported that Gunn might be planning to introduce the Amazonian warrior in the highly anticipated Superman sequel. Since then, fans have been speculating which actress would best fit the role. Besides Arjona, Eiza González and Alexandra Daddario have also been popular fancast choices. According to a previous report, the studio might be looking to cast an actress who is “tall,” in their 20s, and also possesses “fighting skills.”
Last year, Gunn confirmed that they had already started developing the new Wonder Woman movie. “We’re working on Wonder Woman. Wonder Woman’s being written right now,” he said. It was also previously reported that the movie’s script will be written by Supergirl scribe Ana Nogueira.
Following the critical and commercial success of 2025’s Superman, DC Studios are now preparing for the upcoming 2026 releases of Supergirl on June 26 and Clayface on October 23. In addition, its newest DCU show, Lanterns, will also be debuting later this year on HBO and HBO Max.
