Justin Baldoni just put his California home up for sale, and people are definitely noticing the timing. The actor dropped the listing on February 5 for $8.88 million (via Yahoo), and it’s happening right before his May court date with Blake Lively.
Here’s the situation: Lively sued Baldoni back in December 2024, saying he sexually harassed her while they filmed It Ends With Us together. She also claims he worked with his team to deliberately wreck her reputation. Now she wants $161 million in damages (via Variety), and the trial is set for May 18.

Baldoni and his wife, Emily, grabbed this property in 2020 for $2.2 million. They spent the next two years fixing it up and adding all kinds of extras. Back in April 2023, they showed it off to Architectural Digest and talked about the thought that went into every detail.
The place sprawls across 10 acres near the Topa Topa Mountains. The main house covers 5,200 square feet and follows a Mediterranean design. But that’s just the start. There’s also a tiny house, plus a yoga dome and a guest dome that came from Poland. The listing calls it a retreat-style setup that works for living or hosting events.
What’s interesting is that this property was up for rent at $40,000 per month before Baldoni switched gears. That rental listing vanished right before the sale went live. Something clearly shifted in his plans.
The house has tons of wellness stuff that Baldoni talked about in that AD feature. There’s an air filtration system, special shielding around the bedroom to block electromagnetic frequencies, a saltwater pool, and an orchard. You’ll also find pickleball courts, a trampoline with LED lights, a koi pond with its own waterfall, and fire-prevention systems.
Emily told the magazine they wanted their home to feel like a safe space when they walked in. They’ve got two kids, Maiya, who’s 10, and Maxwell, who’s 8. The couple said their trips to Mexico shaped how they decorated inside, and Baldoni’s mom handled the feng shui layout since she’s been doing that work for 30 years.

This whole mess has already done serious damage to Baldoni’s career. WME, his management company, dropped him once Lively’s accusations became public. He tried to sue her and Ryan Reynolds right back, seeking $400 million and alleging defamation and extortion. A federal judge threw that lawsuit out in October 2025.
Baldoni moved his family out of California completely while all this plays out. The evidence that’s already come out publicly includes texts between Lively and Taylor Swift. In those messages, Swift apparently called Baldoni out and said he was pulling out “his tiny violin” when a People Magazine story ran about him being sexually traumatized by an ex-girlfriend.
There are also voice notes floating around. One has Baldoni telling Lively that she looked beautiful in her costumes and that he got chills when he saw the photos. Another has Lively asking Baldoni to push back filming because she’d just had her fourth baby, a son named Olin, and needed more time to get ready for the demanding shoot.
The texts between Lively and Swift got messy, too. They show Lively checking in on their friendship, asking if everything was okay because she felt like she’d been a bad friend. Swift responded, saying she was exhausted and noticed a shift in how Lively communicated. She said Lively’s messages felt like “a mass corporate email sent to 200 employees” instead of texts from her actual friend.
So now Baldoni’s selling the sanctuary he and Emily built. The listing says it could work as a main home, a second property, or an investment for someone looking to run retreats. Whether anyone bites at almost $9 million is anybody’s guess, but the sale adds another chapter to what’s already a complicated situation heading into May.
