The official MCU Disney+ timeline confirms when Spider-Man: No Way Home takes place.
Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures’ Spider-Man: No Way Home was released in United States theaters in 2021. Directed by Jon Watts, the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home sees Tom Holland reprise his role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, while Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield also return.
When does Spider-Man: No Way Home take place in the MCU timeline?
As noted on Twitter by @CinXperience, Spider-Man: No Way Home has “finally crawled its way” onto the Disney+ MCU timeline in “some countries.” This confirms that No Way Home officially takes place between the events of Eternals and Doctor Strange: In the Multiverse of Madness.

This makes sense, as Eternals, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness were all released in sequential order; however, the MCU has been known to play with its timeline, and there’s no guarantee that a new Marvel movie will automatically be set in the present.
This also means that, should Spider-Man 4, also known as Spider-Man: Brand New Day, be set in the present, Holland’s Peter Parker has been erased from his friends’ memories for some time now. Of course, it’s possible that Brand New Day will jump back in time and immediately pick up after the events of No Way Home. Having said that, if the movie plays into Avengers: Doomsday, it could also not do that, which would mean that Peter has been living without Zendaya’s Michelle “MJ” Jones-Watson and Jacob Batalon’s Ned Leeds for a few years now.
Directed by Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be released in United States theaters on July 31, 2025. In addition to Holland, Batalon, and Zendaya, the cast includes Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo, Michael Mando, Trammel Tillman, Marvin Jones III, Sadie Sink, and Liza Colón-Zayas.
