After garnering traction for his work on Heated Rivalry, Hudson Williams is now facing backlash for his old Letterboxd reviews, which netizens have recently unearthed. One of the resurfaced posts targets Hudson’s reviews for The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, where he allegedly labelled Rachel Zegler as the weakest link in the cast.
Another review that has drawn criticism involves his now-deleted take on The Materialists, which allegedly took shots at Pedro Pascal‘s acting chops, accusing his performance of being wooden.
Love u Pedro but you’re just not a great actor. This performance was so wooden it made Dakota seem like the charismatic one. I Knowwww they’re not meant to be the in loveee ones but my guyyy! have a single likeable personality trait for fucks sake; terrible understanding of your function in the script
While it’s not wrong for someone to express their opinions online, and in Hudson’s case, there’s little to suggest his reviews stem from malice, this being the internet, the backlash from fans is hardly surprising.
Hudson Williams Faces Backlash Over Resurfaced Letterboxd Reviews
Given Pascal and Zegler’s stature in the industry, fans were quick to call out Hudson after his old reviews resurfaced, with one claiming that Hudson himself was the weakest link of his breakout hit, Heated Rivalry.
Although some defended the actor, as there’s nothing inherently wrong with stressing their opinions on the web, his jab at Pascal has particularly rubbed fans the wrong way following the latter’s support for the Hockey romance.

For the unversed, Hudson’s steamy gay hockey romance has garnered immense traction since its debut, and Pascal, a vocal ally of the LGBTQIA+ community himself, has expressed support for the show in recent weeks.
Pedro Pascal Has Shown Support for Hudson Williams’ Heated Rivalry
Considering Pascal has cemented himself as the internet’s daddy, his public support for the show had everyone thrilled. In response to an IG reel, which saw fans celebrating the series at a local bar, Pascal commented with a heart emoji, sending fans into a frenzy.

Reflecting on the show’s success, even though it might seem the show became an overnight sensation, Hudson, on the flip side, felt its rise had been a bit more gradual (via The Hollywood Reporter).
I don’t think it’s something you can prepare for. I would say to a degree it has been gradual. We saw the fans find us when we were halfway through shooting — they found it through Instagram sleuthing — so it wasn’t like, oh, this is a totally normal fan base. It was like, oh, these people can be obsessive. Then I think our Instagrams only went to a few thousand followers.
With season two already greenlit, it’ll be interesting to see if it can replicate season 1’s reception. As for the hoopla over Hudson’s resurfaced reviews, given how the internet works, it’s unlikely to derail the actor’s momentum.
