DC Studios’ Supergirl has secured a game-changing creative force! It’s not an actor, writer, or director, but the film’s composer, and it’s none other than Ramin Djawadi. He is the mastermind behind some of the most iconic scores of the last two decades, and arguably the only reason that season 8 of Game of Thrones was somewhat bearable.

From moving scores like The Last of the Starks and Light of the Seven to adrenaline-pumping music in Iron Man, Djawadi has shaped pop culture in ways only a few other composers have. So, his involvement signals that Supergirl won’t be just another superhero origin story, but a cinematic statement!

Supergirl will be directed by Craig Gillespie and feature Milly Alcock as our titular heroine, Kara Zor-El. Ramin Djawadi has previously scored another project that Alcock starred in, and that’s House of the Dragon, the Game of Thrones prequel, which eventually led to her landing the Supergirl part.
The Emmy-winning composer certainly led to Alcock’s scenes being more impactful as the young Targaryen princess, and now, they’re about to be collaborators again, but far from the world of dragons and kings. This time around, he’ll score her as she plays a Kryptonian youth who’s into traveling across the galaxy for partying!
So Alcock’s Kara still holds the rebellious and youthful nature of her character, Rhaenyra from HOTD. Djawadi’s music is known for elevating its leads, where heroes feel mythic and villains feel monstrous, so he’ll likely capture Kara’s Kryptonian might and her deeply human-like vulnerabilities with ease.
Supergirl Finally Gives DC Impactful Music Superman Lacked

Most were impressed after Superman came out, and except for the Punkrocker song by Teddybears in the movie, the music wasn’t all that praiseworthy. Now compare that to what Hans Zimmer did with Man of Steel. The Flight soundtrack makes it feel like you’re up in the clouds, as Superman himself.
It’s a slow build-up that leads to a crescendo moment, and we’ve heard Ramin Djawadi compose in a similar style before. For Supergirl, most would like to hear something electrifying like the Wonder Woman theme by Rupert Gregson-Williams.
But let’s hope that Djawadi finds a way to outdo that! So, what are you expecting Supergirl to sound like under the renowned composer’s artistry?
Supergirl is set to release on June 26, 2026 (USA).
