As Invincible season 4 gradually approaches its March premiere, Amazon has unveiled new promos that have rubbed some fans the wrong way.
While the image in question sees Samantha and Mark embracing each other in the sky, it’s the caption that has caught some netizens off guard, which reads, “Notice how he’s maintaining masculinity while being carried by a woman.”

Although it is indeed a reference to David Corenswet, it’s not exactly a shade at his Superman. Instead, it’s poking fun at his recent comments on his Actors on Actors interview with Wicked star Jonathan Bailey.
The Invincible Tweet is a Playful Dig at Corenswet’s Recent Remarks
While on first glance, the tweet does seem a bit absurd, if you’re familiar with Corenswet’s recent Actor on Actors interview, it becomes evident that the caption is nothing more than a playful poke at his comments.
For the unversed, Corenswet, who also shared an airborne kissing scene in Superman, lauded Bailey’s masculinity in the latter’s own airborne scene in Wicked 2, which saw him being carried by Elphaba.
Every man out there would think, ‘There’s no way you can look masculine and powerful and in control when you’re being levitated by a woman. You somehow maintain your masculinity
On that front, it becomes pretty apparent that Amazon was making a direct reference to the actor’s comments rather than bashing his Superman for no reason. However, Invincible creator Robert Kirkman didn’t hold back when he was asked to compare Superman with Omni-Man.
Can Omni-Man Defeat Superman? Here’s What the Creator Has Said
The debate over whether Omni-Man can take on Superman has garnered a lot of traction since the former earned mainstream recognition in the wake of Invincible‘s success. And even though creators and writers involved with these productions often ignore this discourse for obvious reasons, Kirkman didn’t shy away from weighing in on the subject.

In an interview with Collider, Kirkman expressed he’s certain Omni-Man can defeat Superman, and hinted that season 4 of the show may showcase Omni-Man at his strongest, which could even rival Golden Age Superman’s feats.
Omni-Man takes him down easily. I’ve said this before. Every time I say it, a bunch of Superman fans, if you can believe there is such a thing, come out of the woodwork and attack me online as if I said something that’s not definitively and indisputably true. But Omni-Man would completely trash that guy. Superman, ‘Oh my gosh, in the golden age, he moved planets.’ Okay, whatever. Who knows if Omni-Man could do that? Maybe he could. Maybe pay attention to Season 4. Who knows? But, yeah, I think that Superman is absolute trash
On a side note, it’s important to note that Kirkman was indeed a fan of James Gunn‘s Superman despite his reservations regarding the character as a whole.
